Interesting talk. It is amazing how far we have progressed in 100 years.

Great talk. Amazing to see what could be achieved with a monster.

One can easily see a billion miles with that telescope. It is a mere 89 light minutes!

Very interesting Mr Hirshfeld , sorry to see a 👎 in the comments and not more positive reflections. Burrito crats , entitled to their entitlements. Likely writes their name in space with a sighting lazer.

Interesting how the speaker proclaims the Mercury polar axis is one of the worst mechanical ideas ever, and some of the most important modern astrometric Precision mounts use mercury despite the risks. So when astronomers saying it's a bad idea does not make it a bad idea LOL. As a long time now retired professional national Observatory director, I can say that the speaker is wrong here. Indeed, astronomers are not Engineers LOL... and dabbling in astronomy history back in grad school I can say historians are neither LOL. Because of the Hazmat issues I don't recommend mercury now, but the mechanics are extraordinarily sound, and make me question the speaker's thinking.
