That is actually his wife Denise, they were high school sweethearts. She looks young but she’s really not much younger than him. This song is their story. They separated in the 90’s for a bit, after his heavy touring schedule and his affair. Then they worked it out and have been together ever since. The little girls in the video are their daughters too💞

Alan Jackson is one of the most talented country artists ever. HIs song "Midnight in Montgomery" is a haunting tribute won the Country Music Association award for Music Video of the Year (1992) . Then, you move on to some of his upbeat stuff like "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" and get a great surprise in the original video. I've never seen one of his videos blocked.

I love how he uses the mandolin so wonderfully in most of his videos...its just beautiful...just like his songs...wholesome family oriented songs about real life...about the life most of us secretly dream ours would or should be like...its a shame the world today no longer takes the time with things going at such a fast pace to take time to enjoy and notice....things that would make a difference in the world are being erased...things we should take time for like family and simple moral values....maybe all of us should start thinking about all of this on a daily basis instead of everything bad.

Saw Alan Jackson at Sioux Falls State Fair 25 years ago or so. Lightning hit and took all but emergency electricity. Alan Jackson kept playing, all acoustic, no microphone. Electricity came back on, I wish it hadn't, it was so good. I was an Alan Jackson fan-ish before, but the way he handled that cemented my Fandom. He just kept playing and entertaining, A total professional and great guy through the whole ordeal. Can't say I like all of his songs, but I will always have respect for him.

My parents actually graduated from the same high school class, but didn’t really interact. 5 years later, my grandmothers both worked together & set them up on a date. They had never had a serious relationship beforehand. My Dad still has the receipt from their first date in his wallet. He knew that night he wanted to marry her. Funnily enough, my husband & I met working where out Mom’s worked & we’ve been together over 20 years now.

Alan is such a great songwriter and performer so I love a lot of what he does but what’s so special about this song to me is how it doesn’t candy coat the struggles people often go through. No one said marriage and raising kids is easy but man is it worth it! The song mentions how the start was hard and how life threw them some curves which happens. Also, how they’ll break each other’s hearts and hopefully bend but not break the marriage. How having kids can teach valuable lessons to the parents who have to let go of so much of themselves and put the kids first which often brings the parents closer even though the job of raising kids is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things they’ll ever do. It also talks about how our perceptions and values change as life moves on and how ultimately we’d do it all again, the struggles, the hurt, the broken trust, the rebuilt trust, the joy, and the love. It’s a masterpiece and now that I've been married for 19 years and have two wonderful kids this song means so much more to me. My favorite songs by the icon Alan Jackson are Remember When, Livin’ on Love, Where Were You, Small Town Southern Man, I’ll Try, Here in the Real World, Drive, She’s Got the Rhythm, The Older I Get, Monday Morning Church, and I Can't Do That Anymore (recorded by Faith Hill).

Love to see that your reacting to newer Artists. I think you were a little too into the Bourbon to appreciate the beauty of this song and story. Other great Country songs....Brad Paisley songs, He Didn't Have To Be, I'm Gonna Miss Her, Alcohol, Letter to Me. Rascal Flatts, any of their stuff. Tim McGraw, Humble and Kind, Live Like You Were Dying, She's My Kind of Rain, My Little Girl, endless list. Keith Urban, God Whispered Your Name, Long Hot Summer, Little Bit of Everything, Long Hot Summer.

Definitely need to hear Alan Jackson's "Where were you (when the world stopped turning)"...He wrote the song as his reaction to 9/11 and if there was one song that united the country post 9/11, it was "Where were you". kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6jGiImpaaqYoMk
