Trust me, WE (Americans) don't EVER forget!!!!! My son was in the Marine Corps and was a member of Presidential Security. I've never felt more fear than I felt that day!! Those terrorists took more than nearly 3,000 American lives .... including young children ..... they took our sense of security.

I was in the Army stationed in Germany I just got off of CQ (a 24 hour shift) There was a mistake made on the CQ schedule so the person that was supposed to relieve me was still on leave and there was no replacement for a couple of hours When I finally got relieved I had to go to an appointment so It was almost 1 in the afternoon before I was able to lay down I had just got to sleep when a girl from HQ started to pound on my door in a real panic she told me that America had been attacked and to report to the commander on the tarmac When I got there I learned what happened h NYC The events of that day and the months to follow will forever be etched into my memories

I was in the fourth grade and I remember exactly. We were doing like an old school version of zoom at the high school, big 32inch tvs with cameras. All of a sudden both sides were interrupted and we went back to our school to watch the news for a couple hours until they sent us home.

I was 15 getting out of gym class when 2 high school boys ran up And told the gym teacher after that every classroom had the tvs on watching the coverage .everyone in tears

My hubby was driving me to work then he was taking our daughter over to his mom's house for the day. We heard it on the radio. Then he watched everything. After i got off work later he picked me up. We drove home and had to get ready for both our families to come over to celebrate our daughter's 2nd birthday. Her birthday is the 12th but the 11th was better for everyone. We had to try to celebrate her. And. Try not to scare All the littles that were there. My BIL just got out of the navy. We wondered if they'd make him come back. My oldest sister served in Desert Storm. She had been out for a while. Both her and BIL said No, but if They did call, we'd go.

I was going to college and had gone to the office and they were watching it on tv. I immediately called my Mom and then my kids school to see if they were sending them home. Went back to class and told my professor. We all went to the lecture hall to watch the coverage. Afterwards, our teacher told us that classes were cancelled for the rest of the day and next day.

I was driving to work when the first plane hit. When I got to the office, they were all glued to the TV & we all watched in horror, as the 2nd plane hit. I was a grown adult with grandchildren when it happened. my folks were on vacation in Colorado (we live in Michigan). I felt the need to call them immediately to 'see if they were ok', when we all were thousands of miles from the horror. At the age of 55, I needed to talk to my mommy. The country was stunned & you couldn't go anywhere without an American flag prominently displayed. Many of us had them at out homes already, but that day inspired every home & business to do it. Everyone was kinder & volunteering in any way we could. Traumatic, horrific, beautiful day in American history. EVERYONE came to help. And the gun flinch, is understood, but many folks who did not have guns, were worried they might need to defend their families. Scary times.

Due to house renovations my husband and I were staying at my daughters house. As a 3rd shift employee I was sleeping. She came and woke me and the first thing I did was hug my granddaughter. I knew things would never be the same.

I was in 8th grade math when our art teacher came in talked to our teacher she didn't say a word left the room came back in with a TV, and for the rest of the day we watched TV and cried. Us being so young had no clue the reality of it all but we knew how bad it was. I'll never forget that day

I remember trying to figure if my brother was flying that day, he is retired Air Force and flew for an airline at that time. He was supposed to start out on flight later that day. He said they had called all the pilots in the airport together and discussed getting planes moving again and asked for volunteers to fly, he and 6 other pilots put their hands up out of the large group of flight crews standing there. When we spoke later that day and he could get a call through to us, we live about 20 miles across the bay from lower Manhatten, and getting calls through to the area was very difficult, transmissions lines were packed beyond capacity. He told me he had volunteered and I was of course you did. I was an ICU RN and off that day when I saw what was happening I called my unit and let them know I was getting into scrubs and would be in to go out with the emergency response team. When I saw the first tower go down I knew that would not be needed.

I was in 10th grade working on landscaping plans for the town and school in agriculture class (my landscaping plans was used for the school to redo a place that was washing out) I will never forget that day all schoolwork stopped and all TVs in the school was turn on

As an American, there are two time periods. Pre-9/11 and Post-9/11. The world changed that day and it will never go back. I was 11, and I remember that day like it was yesterday. What’s amazing though is that 9/12 is the single greatest day in American history. The entire country came together.

I wasnt alive but i have plethora of stories to tell from family, former teachers, coworkers. But the one thing that has always stuck out to me is the response it had. Immediately most of NY FDs responded to the NYC to help in anyway they could. I live just north of the city of Syracuse and my local fire department responded that is 5 hours away. The amount of people who went to the recruitment office the next day. My 5th grade (year 6) teacher joined the army and served 3 tours (love you MR.W), the feeling and power of being united still lingers in that moment of silence every year. 9/11 will never be forgotten by any american. GOD BLESS AMERICA and god bless our allies.

I was having coffee watching tv. I called my grown daughter at her job panicking and crying! On my way to work i stopped to fill up my car, and seeing groups of men of all ages gathered talking all over town sent fear through my bones. Ill never forget who did it. Our own government was involved. Prove me wrong. I dare you.
