The Chinese version, originally sung by Tseten Dolma, is much older. The Tibetan version is much more recent, & was sung by Yangcheng Dolma (Han Hong).

@Sp3ctre18 She sang this song and 康定情缘 in a singing contest, she also released an album in Chinese before she was with Avex. I think the album is call 阿兰情歌 but all can be found online, just google them. I'm still looking for a good quality copy of 天涯 Road to Heaven sung by her but had no luck yet.

I believe that under the rainy season lots of evaporated water from the Indian Ocean comes in over India and rain down there. When the clouds gain height because the Himalayas it rains even more. None of that rain will get all the way over the Himalayas though. It could be one of the reasons.
