It's not a bad way to write your characters. I do a little of this when I write. You have to get into the heads of your characters or they won't feel realistic when you write them.

Everyone is affected differently by things and you can never know his inner emotional life. But he still seems quite joyful and happy when talking about writing. He just prefers novels and other projects to comics because he does feel like publishers always betrayed him.
