Alan Parsons, regarded as one of the best studio engineers of his time , recorded albums for the Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc. when fidelity was more important than mass producing albums with Sony Protools on digital media to appease bubble gum teenagers on their cell phones. Recording multi tracks on 2" analog tape is a lost art than cannot be replaced with ADDA conversion. Todays media sounds thin, tinny and trebley compared to the natural magnetic audio spectrum of a well recorded signal chain. Bands like Boston, Grateful Dead etc used to spend numerous months and sometimes years to achieve a perfect studio recording costing millions of dollars, and today, musicians settle for a recording that is mastered in a day to a few weeks. Dave Grohl is the exception because he has acquired the mixing board from sound city in California. This board has been used to record numerous gold albums for most of the Gold albums from artists like Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac. and many, many more. There has been a recent push to revive an analog signal recording in the studio, and hopefully in the near future this will become accepted as the new norm to replace the poor quality of Digital recording

Back in the day (mid to late 70's & early 80's) when there was no such thing as an Alan Parson Project concert in Australia, I longed for such a thing... Now I'm an old geeza and can watch on KZbin what I wanted to see live. Fantastic.. I even have a APP song on my list to be played when I shuffle off this mortal coil... "Old and Wise" but only sung by Colin Blunstone thank you very much..!

If you can get tickets to a Parsons/symphony concert I highly recommend attending! We were at the Buffalo show with the Philharmonic and it was amazing. Yes, everyone played live. I am very much looking forward to their show in March, will be interesting to compare shows.

+kirstenmeows Saw them in Las Vegas last weekend at the Smith Center in Las Vegas. They acoustics in that place are fantastic. It was the best show I have seen in several years by far. I loved this music back in the mid to late 70s when it first came out. Still love it to this day.
