When I get to the nursery I always walk around to see which plants (I usually go for perennials) are covered with bees then I plant that. Works a charm.

It's an excellent way to know which plants are of benefit Laura - although I have had slight guilt-pangs in the past knowing I am taking the plants elsewhere! ;) Best wishes, Joel

@@WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton I have no problem freeing plants from a nursery environment. If I see it in the wild or another garden I just buy seeds and grow my own... hardwood cuttings... etc.

@@Lauradicus That's brilliant :) growing your own is the best way for sure, and saves a considerable amount of money! :)

Great words Manulal! I know a person near to my house who has artificial turf... and has bought an artificial large grasshopper that is powered by solar, to make grasshopper sounds... I have to laugh, otherwise I would cry! ;) Stay safe Manulal, keep being that warrior :)

Very relaxed chat. What a great font of knowledge and some really important advice on flowers. Just popped out in my wildlife garden to stake up a very tall Jack by the hedge only to find an Orange tip butterfly caterpillar on there. Very cold and wet. So carefully removed it and placed it underneath the leaf to give it some shelter. I’d only spotted males this spring too. Very chuffed.

What a shame the video was so short Sir! I could have listened to Mr. T and you chatting for ages (though the sound was a bit quiet in places). I am continuing my little efforts and planted some thyme, rosemary and other herbs. Notably, I planted something called a strawberry mint but despite the reputation of mint spreading all over the place (my intention on the particular patch) I think the planting has turned out to be more of an interment! It looks a bit terminally sick! I supsect the warm weather/watering balance(and will blame the weather anyway! This is UK. We aren't supposed to have warm, dry spells haha) Anyway I will carry on and take a bit of consolation that a buddleia D and a hebe I planted donkey's years ago are still buzzing/flapping with bees and butterflies and the Almighty has seen fit to plant an elderberry which I think is most helpful and considerate of Him. Blessings and peace Sir.

What a great start to the day , this watching interview which was like chat between old friends. So true that more emphasis should be on young people taking up gardening in all it's forms as a career.

Thank you Lyn. A top chap to discuss the benefits of gardening for wildlife with. Completely agree that more emphasis needs to be made toward encouraging the next generation of wildlife gardeners.
