I love the that he's bringing a human element to those that might have mechanical view of the mind. Allowing them to evolve their practice into a meaningful art. He probably walked into that room with many ready to contradict anything he said in their own minds. To hear the majority of the room laughing with him...Alan watts was an amazing mind and a beautiful orator. I'm thankful to the series of events and hard work that lead him to share his gift.

TO THE OWNER OF THIS CHANNEL: I’m filled with happiness to see Watts’s work have the real names of the lecturers attached to it. I assume he needed his son to do this. I want all the data from those morons who put his stuff up “with music” or ocean noises or something. These people don’t have the attention span to follow a full lecture so they chop him up. Watts does excellent analysis and breaking down the pathology of the ego without ever pointing out to who or what has orchestrated the pathology of the ego. He never Asks qui bono. His idea in following certain Eastern lines of thought was to destroy the ego, suppress it overcome it all together, and enter into this nothingness then you arrive to get the point of life and can dance freely. Why shouldn't he ask why have the ego in the first place? The ego is extremely necessary but it is only that it never had the chance to develop naturally. that is, to be informed by the essence and to be the subjugate rather than the master. This leads to what Carlos Castaneda called foreign installation which is really none other than anything that the elites or the dark forces that rule wish to program life with. Nothingness like infinity is one of their favorite fallacies they use to diminish humans by a cognitive strategy.

Cause and effect are two different stages of the same event. It's the difference between a wave cresting and a wave crashing on the shore. Cause and effect is as real as time. Which many scientists would disagree about time. But what do they know!? After all, it takes time to explain weather or not time exists. And the purpose of time is to keep everything from happening all at once. In fact, nothing can happen at all if it wasn't for time; for time is a fundamental reality of existence.

I ADMIT...I do like listening to the recorded talks of the late Alan Watts.. But find I can absorb/tolerate only small amounts of him at a a time. It strikes me that like a great whale, one who may first playfuly capsize you from the safety of your boat then takes hold of you. ..he will first take you for a ride as you willing hold on before submerging below the surface and it is then you will need to hold your breath while you taken deeper n deeper, this way n that way and shown all manner of sights that from the surface you were oblivious to. What I find amazing but frustrating at the same time too, is the way he seems to impromtuly navigate his way around, seamlessly and without a pause going from direction/place (topic) to the next and having not followed a plan/scirlpt... Its as if he just grabs your attention, goes in a direction that soon goes off course into many other directions, and all whilst below the depths, were oxygen is absent and were only his voice, thoughts and bizarre sights alone exist. Sadly, or forturnately... I can only hold my breath a short time before I feel a need to rush back to the suface... Hopefully though a little more enlightened/enriched for the places Alan took me to. Certainly a intetesting, unique, charismatic, deep yet bitter sweet being when here before as Alan Watts the man.

I did not go to school watch tv or anything and I just heard of "the man Alan" and I understand every word and I talk just like him when I speak.. point is how do I know and talk about something I was never taught or anything it is easy, u can't no u no something's if u don't no u no it and that should show u that we r all one of a infinite number of 1 and to come from that one u in turn r the one meaning all information that comes and goes thru one in turns goes thru all , quit looking up to people as models or whatever else the more u fail and it's because u falsify Ur reality of Ur being here with the purpose of someone else's being here. It is the part of letting go and u will only please u or displease u in the end or the beginning and if the end is the beginning u will see that the only point worth making is now cause the point of right now is the point of both beginning and end. Sorry this probably don't make since thanks

💥 WRONG: The analogy involving sound is fundamentally flawed. Neither sound nor light consists of a succession of alternating presence and absence (e.g., sound and silence). The simplest sound wave is a sinusoidal wave, which includes both positive and negative parts of its cycles. The negative parts are not equivalent to silence. Alan Watts' description of sound as alternating sound and silence is incorrect. Sounds created as a succession of sound and silence result from pulses, either on the positive or negative portions of the wave cycle, not from a continuous waveform. Similarly, light is not pulsating but forms a complete wave, much like sound, though it exists within an extremely high-frequency band of the spectrum. This clarification addresses the recurring misunderstanding in Watts' explanations, particularly when he describes Zen as a succession of "now you see it, now you don't," attempting to draw parallels with sound and light waves. 💥💥💥✌️🙏❤️

Idk i find the argument sort of against evolution as a view on the world a little bit of a strawman. I dont presume it was said that there is this nebulous "survival drive", Its just that life exists in a way which propagates itself through its behaviour and then the ones that do so succesfully are ones that you see more of. Types of life which didnt do that because of whatever circumstances are no longer here, naturally. Sometimes i really do feel like he adds things to arguments that probably never existed? But perhaps that was how things were talked about back then. Similarly, when he talks about a mosquito or whatever feeling like its human. I mean, we have no good guess on whether there is anybody home. And at least nowadays with some worm, we modeled the neurons digitally and basically get the same behaviour as the animal itself. I know that alan views consiousness as stretching beyond the skin and while i do respect the natural world and all its beings, I kind of just cannot imagine dropping stuff like that as if it is a statement of fact.
