The beginning of this lecture describes how I got out of my deep depression from past events. I literally had a single moment while baked and watching a music video and I had a realization that I'm real, I'm alive and so was the past (the thought of the past shut me down). But in the present, the now, the past no longer exists only the idea is real in the present. My mind literally grasped that I'm a part of reality and I was almost mindlessly living life

I find myself going through stages with this sort of thing. I’ll try my best to keep in mind the ideas of Watts’, and by extension, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism etc… but somewhere along the way those ideas slip from my mind and I find myself living mindlessly through life. Then I’ll have a day where I suddenly realize what I had been doing for the past little while (sometimes it’s a few days, others it’s weeks and sometimes even months) and I can start to reorient myself. But keeping it consistent has been a real struggle of mine and I’m not sure how to fix it. I assume it’s having the wrong mindset or outlook or maybe even the wrong goal. But I have faith that the pieces will one day align and everything will fall into place and make sense.

Cloud in the sky and water in the jar meaning ?
@charlescook55422 жыл бұрын
Probably means instead of asking for enlightenment from a master think about the flow of things in the world. A cloud changes into rain and falls into a jar maybe as a metaphor to not fear death and do all this clinging that holds you back. Just a guess.

We all know the 'definition' of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. Here is a 'definition' for stupid: listening to a peer explain life's foundational questions, and employing that advice.
@RavingElectron2 жыл бұрын
What if you start getting different results? And what if, doing those foundational things changes the later fundamentally?

All it's doing is explaining a feeling people have had and the background of it it's not telling you have to adopt these things.

@@Turner-ex4yd Oh Alan Watts, what have you become? And you Osho....and you Ram Dass...what, where, why? how? who? and myriads of others, the same. IS: one recipe, NOT IS: millions (billions?) of recipes. Likelihood of success listening to 'peers' = slim to none. Here is my advice to Ed: Ed! You are twisting the meaning of 'perish' to suit a particular denominational congregational hierarchical dogma which is incorrect, improper, and tiresome. You used perish as quoted at 2Peter 3:9. It's root is G622 apollumi which means: destroy utterly, kill (the resultant death being certain). There are 92 uses of that word in the Bible, and only two have the same spelling of 2Peter 3:9. That is: G622 apolesthai, found at 2Peter 3:9 AND at Luke 13:33 where The Lord Yeshua speaks OF HIMSELF "...it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem". The two have the exact same meaning (and spelling). Our Master is predicting His own 'certain death', NOT His eternal punishment. Your argument of 'perish' as eternal punishment is baloney, fostered by the fear hell technique for 'winning souls'. All of mankind lost the eternal Spirit connection with The Creator. God said Himself "you shall surely die". The Bible states: "the wages (price, for it is earned) of sin is death" and "the one who dies (perishes) is acquitted of sin". The word acquitted is G1344 dedikaiotai, meaning: acquitted, justified, absolved (of the debt), declared guiltless, freed. CAN IT BE ANY CLEARER?? The eternal Spirit available is from The Almighty through Yeshua the Christ. Some of the resurrected will face judgment and the guilty will be thrown into the lake of fire, and THEREUPON DIE AGAIN! The ones who survive the lake of fire are the enemy and his fallen band AND any human with his mark or seal. The sin which has NO forgiveness has no death. Preach the GOOD NEWS and avoid the damnation talk that so many wield upon the unbelievers, causing their ire and despise, closing their ears to the GOOD NEWS of salvation, reconciliation, freedom from darkness and sin, living with and for the Creator of us! amen

@@rambido okay first off I'm a christian too, second never even said the word parish, third all i said was this was explaining a way of thinking not trying to convert you. Also mention the lake of fire it's not that you just die you are burned from the inside out and blotted out from existence as tho you never existed, not shure why you went of on a tangent about something unrleated
