I just heard of him today. I feel like it's the first day of the rest of my life.

I was introduced about 20 Years ago; a friend introduced me by giving me every one of his recordings and I spent a few years just listening to them all back to back, and I still think of it all, all the time, and quite obviously, I end up here listening again!

@@brandonmtb3767 interesting that you should ask! I've been thinking about that myself. His words only take you so far. At the end of the day I'm still a nihilist and the only thing that truly helps with that and sets me straight again is doing mushrooms. I feel like Alan Watts did some mushrooms in his day and it helped shape his ideas as much as other cultures did.

I heard this very lecture on a drive with a truck full of flowers on the way to Rhode island 7years ago. Unbeknownst to me it would radically change my life. Integrating this teaching has been the most complex aspect of the lecture. I now live in Hawaii and little of my life from when I heard this lecture remains intact. But my development has grown exponentially and others have begun to echo this truth 🎉 Blessings

I love this guy, so funny. “When people ask: ‘What is the fundamental principle of Buddhism?’, you may very well answer: ‘A tomato’.”

I love Allans laugh, i wish i could have been able to hear it in person. I allways imagine his lectures are given in a High School made near WW2 in a Govt classroom on a summer day a period before the last period of the day. Old wooden desks, not the hard plastic and metal ones. Rickidy wooden chairs on wooden floorboards. No ac with obviously barely any technology in the room. So cool how when i hear this man talk, thats the picture thats painted for me.

Where do I find people who think deeply nowadays? I want to find some people who have the ability to care about what is happening in the world. In my area I have searched for years and have found not even one person interested in spiritual or deeper topics. Any here looking for a deep conversation?

What in God's holy name is that background noise??!! I had to shut it off at 8 minutes...

Keep in mind that this audio is from 49 years ago. To be honest I'm quite amazed by how clear the audio is, because if you look at some of his other live lectures, the audio is 12 times worse.

Is there a cleaned up version of this audio I can't stand it sounds like some student scribbling on paper on a tape recorder

I didn't even notice the noise until reading this comment, after listening to the entire lecture. I had it on half volume and listening while working.
