Posts like these usually are fakes, but I have to say this is a very good one. It's certainly a good song with an impressive touch of Depeche Mode and Alan Wilder. You can even hear some instrumentals within it right from Alan Wilder's production and he is known for re-using his own sounds. The voice is very much like Alan's as well. Good try. If not fake then prove it isn't ^^ But... great post anyway. I enjoyied. If trying to fool someone then this is the way to do it - with great effort and sophisticated.

So is it fake or not?I really like this music.if this music isn't DM,i continue listening again and again.I am very young to know the voice of Alan
@antunivanovic2 жыл бұрын
It's more of a factual mess, rather than a "fake demo". Alan himself understandably doesn't remember recording anything under the title "Violence", thus insisting himself he never did which many many now take for granted and insist on the song's "fakeness". BUT there's another possible theory about it - this particular demo was possibly recorded as is, but without the actual title chosen by anyone in the band ("Violence" is said to be a mere choice of title by people who knew about this demo, and came up with the title themselves, in order to index the song somehow, and "Violence" is obviously the most "proper" title for the song)... Had the band actually ever recorded the final version, who knows what title they'd come up with - in that, I guess one such demo would be more historically valid. But songs like this one simply get lost in time, merely existing on a private edition cassette or two, so there's very little chance for anyone in the band ever remembering they've recorded it... Depeche have way too many official songs (and b-sides), I don't doubt privately there's many unknown demos of theirs... in that, I believe certain online sources that dig up bits like "Violence", tend to make things as factually clear in band's favour. The only rumour that exists about this particular demo is that another Mute-signed band, I Start Counting, were for the time rumoured to have been the authors of the song - although, stylistically, it sure doesn't sound like ISC. So, unless ISC themselves ever dig up a more proper quality recording in their favour, my vote still goes to Alan and DM, because it sure sounds quite genuine to their 1984-era material... It would make a great addition on an album like "Some Great Reward", shoulder to shoulder with the likes of "Master And Servant"... or as a b-side to one the singles (to an extent, but only very slightly, this demo does echo "Set Me Free (Remotivate Me)")... In the end, regarding those who still militantly insist that this is a fake - well, DM or "not", it is too good a demo to be "fake". Why would anyone fake it for a Depeche song instead of finishing it and then put out on their own?
