Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson,......... Known and christened so by his vision problems, as well as his roots in the blues. When you think of the customary words of wisdom, you cannot help but be reminded of the teaching that reminds us that some people need not use their eyes to see, their vision comes from their spirit. Alan was one of those lucky enough to see the truth and beauty of life and the wonder in what it offered. Musically and spiritually gifted, yet often misunderstood. A true scholar of earth and the concept of what mother earth gave us and the ability to express his feelings through his music. Listen to his music and you will hear his soul, shared by all that care to hear. Shooting stars shine brilliantly, but only for a brief moment,........... Then they are gone. May the light of his vision shine on forever.

I love his music and Canned Heat. 30+years sober from crack/ alcohol, lost it all at one point. Recovered my marriage,family and career, ended up living in a log cabin amongst the coastal Redwoods. my front yard is a beautiful grove of about 60 giant redwoods and in the back by the barn is one second growth with a base about 25’ around. Bluetoothing music through my hearing aids with my trees,doing chores is my life now in retirement.🌲⛰👨🌾

Back in the day in the late 60's when I was in high school me and my friends climbed through a window at a concert venue -- The Blue Law -- in Torrance California to try and sneak into a concert. I was an athlete so I boosted my friends up to the window so they could climb in. Then I jumped up and pulled myself up and through the window. When I dropped down on the other side I turned around and there were my friends standing with some guys whom I immediately recognized as the Canned Heat band. We'd snuck into their prep room at the venue. The band was super cool and casual and they even smoked some doobies with us. Then they opened a door and let us out into the concert area.

After a quick search, concert history for the 'Heat indeed shows them playing at The Blue Law in Torrance, CA. on December 15, 16, and 17, 1967. Sound correct? Two other bands apparently played (a band named The Hook and another band named Love) on all 3 dates. Do you know what I'd give to be able to relive your experience from that night? What an amazing and pivotal time and place in history you found yourself in after jumping in that window....! (You do realize this, don't you?) Any other details you can remember?

That’s bullshit as Fito has said, in his own words, his book is a bunch of lies. The book shows what or how Fito gives a shit about the Woodstock spirit, he was there for the money and the girls. He didn’t care about Alan, just that he wrote and made hits, and money for the band. Really don’t believe what the fake book says.

Canned Heat played the USAF base I was stationed at in 1973. Sadly Alan has died earlier. We also got Dobie Grey but it was at the airmans club which was a big soul club and white males weren't welcome. Alan was depressed because girls weren't attracted to him but living in the woods he seldom bathed plus he was very shy.
@kmg3733 Жыл бұрын
He did have some girlfriends. Also, friends of his say girls were attracted to him but he was somewhat shy. Also don’t think he liked the road lifestyle. I think he would have eventually met someone. According to some his depression the months before he died was with the band.

A friend, sibling of a band member, told me that Alan was deeply depressed about the future. According to this friend, Alan didn't overdose on drugs. He chose to kill himself. He couldn't bear to witness the destruction of the world of nature he loved.

The report said accidental od. From what I’ve read he was depressed about the environment but also the band. But there’s no evidence that it was a suicide. There are a lot of contradictions in what’s out there about him.
