Alana, I also struggle with anxiety and have been trying to avoid coffee. I actually found a good solution that I thought I'd share. When I go out to grab a coffee, I get 1/4 coffee and the rest decaf. This gives me the little energy boast and taste for coffee without much anxiety. As well, you can get decaf espresso beans for when you make it at home and there's still a bit of caffeine in decaf.

Alana, someone (Dee xoxo) mentioned something about thyroid issues - I wrote a long response to her, but it was for you, too. I’m so sorry if that’s what you’re dealing with it - didnt catch you mentioning thyroid issues but that would explain your depletion and brain fog/ trouble finding words/feeling exhausted. And anxiety. Trust me, all things I understand and recognize all too well. Hope my response to the other commenter is helpful (and not overwhelming - it’s a lot to take in ). Feel free to reach out if you need more help. You’re right to focus on getting yourself healthy - can’t be there for your family or career if you’re not well. Hope you get back to feeling like yourself soon!

Alana, really fun to watch you guys. As you are on this health journey, perhaps look up spinach and oxalates. It's possible that it may have be causing the anxiety, and not coffee. Spinach is extremely high in oxalates. There is lots of research online that you can find. I think that's what you put in this smoothie..? We only do spinach like once every 3 months for that reason, and every day do kale or collard greens in the smoothies, they have very little oxalates, hardly any in comparison. Good luck :)
@greentree730 Жыл бұрын
The oxalates cause kidney stones, I was very sad to hear this as I love spinach. But have moved to kale. I wonder about swiss chard, haven't looked it up. Love you guys keeping it real. My house was like that raising kids and you know where we were, at the beach or camping at the beach! I live on Vancouver Island, Canada, it is stunning. The waves are huge in Tofino, two hours from me. Lots of surfers!

@MilaDanceSport Жыл бұрын
@@greentree730 I would do your own research, and not just on google to confirm this. There are lots of places out there telling us vegetables are bad for us, and most aren't true. Perhaps it is heavy in metals, I haven't researched. But, I've been putting kale in my smoothies for about 6 years now, 5 days a week, and I don't have any of the symptoms associated with kale metal poisoning (just looked those up).

Can you please share your thyroid issues , I have just been diagnosed with it and feel alittle depleted xxx
@calexprenas Жыл бұрын
I was watching on low volume and must have missed that. Did Alana say she went hypothyroid or has Hashimoto’s after having Coda? Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. For some people it’s an easy condition to manage, for others it can be quite difficult. One of the most important things you can focus on to start is making sure you’re getting all your nutrients, and in particular B12 (try to get blood levels at least to 700), folate (try to get blood levels high in the range), Vitamin D (at least 40 ng/ml) and iron (try to get ferritin mid-high in range, ideally to 90), and magnesium (try to get at least 400 mg / day through your diet or supplements- or more depending on your stature). Check your bloodwork regularly (at least twice a year - i do 4-5 times per year) to keep track. Magnesium doesn’t really reflect fully in bloodwork so that’s one you just have to try to keep track of in your daily diet/via supplements. A lot of people with hypothyroidism just supplement with it daily. If you dont feel well despite being on thyroid meds and despite your bloodwork/nutrients looking good, make sure your doc is checking your FT3 in addition Ft4 and TSH when they run the bloodwork for your thyroid. What really matters isn’t TSH but how much thyroid hormone (T3 and T4) you have. Most doctors don’t check FT3 on their own but you ca request it. Doctors will often tell you everything looks fine if your levels are “in range” but what actually matters is WHERE they are in range. A lot of ppl don’t feel well if the levels aren’t at least halfway through the range or even high in range, and if that’s the case, you may need to increase your dose (or if FT4 is mid range or high in range, but FT3 stays low in range, you may need to add T3 medication. Sometimes switching brands can make a big difference too. You have to see what works for you. But, you may have trouble handling thyroid meds well if you aren’t getting enough nutrients to properly utilize the meds, which is why checking nutrients is so important. There’s lots of info and help online if you need it, way more than I can get into here. Hope you feel better soon! PS if you’re feeling depleted, you may want to particularly focus on your iron and ferritin. Vegans especially can have a hard time getting enough. Iron is also really critical for thyroid functioning.

Spinach can cause kidney stones, not in everyone? The Best green smoothie, fresh picked kale, what a buzz. As you guys plan your life, passing on ideas. Live where the best schools are, it is huge that they love their school. Do some researching in your two zones what schools there are, check out private ones as well. Next...can you afford to hire someone who grows your food on your own land? You used to pick oranges and kale somewhere, maybe you don't need a gardner? Not being negative, but there's supposed to be more viruses at another point? Hopefully not! But think about where you would want to be, what family near you? Having a great food selection. My idea of wealthy is someone who is growing my food and preserving it. Why not have the best?
