Whatever voting system is used first past the post is the absolute worst for it results in the form of dictatorship currently in evidence here in the United Kingdom where The London Westminster Establishment does as it likes and totally ignores the devolved administrations. It does, though have the advantage that it will ultimately end the United Kingdom with Scotland deciding the bipartite Treaty of union, allegedly a union of equally sovereign kingdoms, to end the treaty. This may even be preceded by the reunification of the politically partitioned country of Ireland.

Could you explain how the 5% threshold for London Assembly elections works to avoid extremist parties getting representation? Thank you!
@FinnSadlerGaming2 жыл бұрын
often, extremist parties (such as the BNP exemplified in the video) will only receive a very small amount of the vote share, it's unlikely they will gain over 5% of the vote, so having a threshold of 5% would likely prevent any of them from gaining power. at least that's how i understand it

@@AlanHistoryNerd what about the alternative vote (AV) ans the single transferrrable vote (STV)
@jasmeharsirna70093 жыл бұрын
STV is used in Northern Ireland and AV was proposed in 2011 but rejected, however it is still used in Australia.

wow, talk about a mess in politics, at least in Australia we basically have the same system with each election whether it's council, state, federal, etc the only thing that's first to the post is whether or not we want to still be affiliated with the queen for some reason even though we have been "granted" our independence from the UK back in 1901... and 1986... yes we had a loophole where the UK could molest our political system
