Great video. Laugh Out Loud I'm the guy that went from 80 grit-1000grit wet dry sand and then used flitz on the polish wheel on the Dremel to blend it in. But I found a secret trick! After all your sanding and polishing, if the color of the polymer is still slightly off, rubbing a bit of Bow String Wax on the surface of the cut area blends the colors and brings it much closer to matching. really seems to finish the overall job and appearance and feel. Using your finger for friction try to just slightly warm the area, add a tiny bit of the wax, and rub it in. I did 2-3 applications and it really helps, Hope this helps.

Good video. I taped a small piece of soft, sheet brass on the handle near to where it joins the trigger guard to prevent damage from the grinding wheel. I also covered all the gun openings, the magwell, etc. to prevent the entry of debris. A few minutes of preparation keeps the gun clean, debris-free, and avoids the need to spend more time cleaning the gun after surgery.

A tip I posted elsewhere. Between you heavy work, let the polymer cool down to cold. The friction goes bout 4mm deep. My very first job was a G19 and it came out perfect. There are smaller grinding drums, John. That's what I used. Took me an hour and it's perfect.

I have pretty skinny fingers compared to this guy. You think i should go down in size of the dremel bit or would it not make a big difference?
@JohnHorvath732 жыл бұрын
Hello Michael. I would say it’s not going to make a difference, but primarily just because once you’re shooting, none of this little stuff matters because our brains can only process so much. In other words, how your individual fingers feel, the texture of your grip, and other nonessential topics get automatically pushed to the back of the line while we’re shooting. That said, grind it down until your grip is comfortable and as high as possible and get back to shooting! 😁

one very important mod is to radius the forward part of the trigger guard... that is the vertical piece set towards front end, and create relief on the inside portion of the guard.... where the tip of your finger touches... hits... that it is momentarily blocked if you need fast access to the trigger. it should be melted and relieved just a bit or more so your trigger finger slips right by it without a sudden hangup ... albeit however brief that may be.. it is still one more second you lose when attempting to quickly find the trigger.
@syntaxerrorsix3137 Жыл бұрын
I used metal foil tape to protect areas I wasn't working and finished it off with rubbing compound. My middle finger knuckle is much happier now. Using a vice made it easier to get things even and then I hand held it for the radius work. Glock knuckle no more.

You DO have some good tutorials. Do you normally use a vise? It would give you a 3rd hand, so to speak. And for people that might do it the first time, like me, I think I'll figure out how to mark it on both sides so it comes out "even" looking on both sides. Also, I wouldn't want it to look any more polished than the stock texture, or close to it, but thats my preference. For people doing it the first time, also, if you start it and feel like you're not getting the results you want, stop and then let someone else do it before you go to far to be able to fix it. Not that big of a deal, like John here says. Hell, I might even go so far as to give the "Glock knuckle" area a concave shape in both directions, side-to-side and front-to-back, so theres kind of a crater shape in there... idk, might just try the side-to-side first and see how that feels. Like I said, decent tutorial.

Another good idea too is to wrap with electrical tape, work at it, once you feel comfortable, remove it, then work your groove, And like you said, if you mess up just get another. (if you're able) then try again. Dope tutorial tho.

I need to get myself a dremel so i can work on my Glock 26. Went to a private bay to practice my holster draw for two hours and got a nasty blister. It was my first time shooting the 26. Never happened with my G17 so it might just be the lack of pinky placement.

Just got my first Glock. 43x. The issue I'm having in addition to the one addressed here, is my trigger finger rubs on the bottom INSIDE of the trigger guard while pulling the trigger. But not all the way across the guard. Just down the center. It looks like I could use a similar process to the one demonstrated here to slightly hone out sort of a trench down the center of the trigger guard to fix this. Maybe just a little would make a big difference? I suppose I would have to find a narrow enough wheel to do it.
@JohnHorvath734 жыл бұрын
Hello, Brad. I would take the easy route and simply remove the trigger from the frame, then dremel the bottom of the trigger shoe instead. Even if you totally went crazy and screwed it up (which I can't see happening), a new trigger bar from Glock is only like $15. I hope this helps!
@bradh61854 жыл бұрын
@@JohnHorvath73 Maybe you're addressing the pinch that occurs while releasing the trigger? That's also an issue. But I was talking about the top right corner of my trigger finger rubbing the inside of the trigger guard while pulling back on the trigger.
@JohnHorvath734 жыл бұрын
@@bradh6185 Ah, ok. I misunderstood you. Yes, I've seen a few people grind away on the inside of the guard to provide some extra room. I wouldn't jump right at it though, as shooting it more and/or adjusting your grip a bit may either alleviate the issue entirely, or atleast get you to a point where it's not worth grinding on your gun. Good luck!
@bradh61854 жыл бұрын
@@JohnHorvath73 I've noticed that if I'm making sure to place that top knuckle of my thumb to the left of the slide(supposedly the proper way) rather than directly behind it, it tilts my trigger finger down, causing the rub. I don't experience that rub on my other guns. I'll take your advice and try some different things with my grip before jumping into it. Thanks for responding.
@JohnHorvath734 жыл бұрын
@@bradh6185 I've always believed Glock either needs to raise their trigger higher, or lower the beavertail, but they'll never change. Also, I would worry too much about doing things the right way, or putting your thumb in a specific location. You do whatever you need to do to make it all work. If your Glock is a gen4 or newer, one option that might help you is applying one of the beavertails that Glock supplies. While they're pretty thin near the top, they might just be thick enough to push your entire grip a tiny bit lower, in turn allowing your trigger finger a little bit more room.
