Alarm Demo! Swann Enforcer 4K DVR Demo and Review

Video clips not in 4K!
If you've wondered about picking up a Swann Enforcer 4K DVR Security System, watch my install, demo, and review. I've always used Wi-Fi cameras for security and this was my first entry into the DVR wired security camera area.
I couldn't upload my video in 4K but trust me, this is the clearest security video I've ever seen. The install involved a lot more cables than I'm used to, but I'm happy with the results.

It's a bit of a pain testing the camera first but it's worth it. I've switched out all of my cables for longer cables now and I tested them all out first too. I don't want to be 100 feet away only to find out it's not working.

In your ring alarm video with the siren example, I wanted to tell you that your address is visible. It's while you are recording yourself using the app (I don't want to give a time stamp so creepy people can see it).

If you want to view the app, make sure you have enough MBPS upload to view the amount of cameras in 4K, otherwise they may lag or freeze.

The playback speed lag would be due to using a mechanical hard drive.

You can set individual cameras to turn the alarm on if they detect motion, or you can tap that camera in your settings and turn the alarm on yourself.

During the day it's fine. At night, Not . At 20-30 feet is as good as it gets. I haven't found a True infered camera that I can afford that covers 50-100 feet without floodlights compatible with the Swann 8 channel DVR that's 12 years old.

Hope you can help, just got a couple of questions. 1. Does the dvr have to be connected to your wifi box using the eternet cable for you to use the app? Do you have to scan the dvr code to be able to use the app? 2. Do the red/blue camera lights turn on when they detect motion? 3. How long are the cables for each camera? 4. If you connect dvr to your tv do you switch between av to view dvr & tv?

Hi. 1. Yes the DVR has to be connected to Wi-Fi or ethernet to use the app. It has to be online. You do scan the DVR code to connect your Swann to the app. 2. The siren/lights will turn on with motion if you set them to do that, but you can also go into your settings and turn it on if you see something and want to use the lights. 3. The cables are 30 feet, which is not very long when you're trying to place them around your house. I upgraded all of my cables to 100 feet and it’s much better. 4. I have my DVR connected to my TV via HDMI, so I just named one of my 3 HDMI ports ‘Swann’ and I tap it when I want to see the cameras.

Hi Shelly You have made an awesome video. I live in Australia and I just bough the system, to set up the automatic alarms at night time, do I set it up via the monitor ? Or can I do it on my mobile or pay for that service ?

Hi, you set it up on a monitor. I don’t feel like the app is very easy to navigate. I found it a lot easier to set up each of the cameras on my TV.

Hi, I use Ethernet to plug it into my router, but you can buy the Swann USB Wi-Fi Antenna for DVRs and NVRs at Best Buy.

The app is pretty limited so you can’t adjust motion settings with it. I only use the app for watching a live stream.

I love them. They're working great. I bought new cable for each camera so I could place them further from the house, and now I have the perimeter completely covered. Clear video, alarms work well, and I really love wired cameras because they maintain a connection.

Only thing I hate is there is NO voice audio. We are looking into getting a Ring doorbell still so we can speak to or be spoken too if we are not home. For the price we paid that was a huge disappointment!

Yes, that was because I was doing a temp install just to demo the cameras. I've got them all dialed in and set up correctly now.

There is a setting where you can turn color night vision on and alarm/sirens off. It’s in the settings, alarm, deterrent. Make sure light and siren are not checked off.

I think the Swann is louder. They are both loud enough to get attention, but the Swann sounds more shrill when you are close to it.

I don’t think it will. Even if the cameras are 4K, the dvr will only transmit its max resolution to your TV.

Hi there. I really like the look of this system but don't want the blue and red flashing lights all the time nor the sirens. Can you just have this running with the Infrared for night vision and have the "enforcer" bits off? I have an existing system and really just want to keep my exisiting bnc cables in place and stay with swann for google home integration but get 4k. Thanks

I don't have the lights or the siren on at all. You can turn them off in the settings and run them without. It's a great system.

Is the following possible. I'm trying to setup on the phone that when you have modes home or night selected and you have siren enable it will no go off. I only want siren to go off when away is selected. It doesn't make sense to setup time because you really don't know when you leave the house. If possible please let me know how to setup it up. Do these cameras have two way audio to talk to someone? and now that you have had them awhile, how do they function? Swan was one of the companies that exterior cams didn't last more than a year or two. Thanks for the video.

My cameras are still up and running. I’ve replaced the cables a few times because I wanted to move the cameras away from the house but otherwise that’s it. They don’t have two way audio. I think there is an add-on for that but I haven’t really dug into it.

You can set it to flash the lights, turn on the siren, or both.

You can record and the recording can be downloaded to your phone or you can leave it on the DVR. I have mine set to erase older recordings to make way for new.

I don’t think there’s an option for that if you want it to stay recording just set the cameras more sensitive

Do you have a 4K TV? and how is the zoom if there is one and does it get all blurry and more blurry the farther you zoom?

I do have a 4K TV. The zoom feature isn’t great. The camera doesn’t have a very fast fps so if a car is speeding by you can only get so much detail, even if you zoom in.

@@maniacalmonster2293 How far away from the DVR do you have the camera? That could contribue to the blurry outline as people pass by, but the zoom is the one thing that's pretty poor on these cameras so detail might not come through if you've zoomed in on someone.

You would set a schedule for that camera or all cameras. It's in the settings. You can also set them so the siren will turn on if it detects motion during that time period.

I've used the DVR to turn on the siren. I think you can do it in the app too, but I don't use the app at all so I'm not sure where it's located in there.

if you have a older swann system can you upgrade and just swap the cameras or do you have to install the new cables as well? The cables look exactly the same as what I have now.

If they look the same they would probably work. I don’t have an older system so I’m not sure, but I did add a cable extension I bought from Swann that said it was compatible with all cameras. Take a look at the cable extensions and see if the connectors are the same. That would probably give you a good idea if they will work.

@@ShellyWutke604 Thanks for the reply one more question if you don't mind. Can you choose to have everything uploaded to the cloud storage or only selective clips you choose to save to the cloud? Reason is if attacked by intruders I would like to have given friends/family access to the cloud storage incase anything were to happen to me and they were to steal the DVR security box taking the video footage evidence saved on the DVR box to destroy. If it were all uploaded directly to the cloud they would not be able to take the evidence and friends/family could access said video footage to see what happened and give/report it to the police.

I haven’t really used the app much at all because I so rarely leave the property, but my clips are available to view in the app for me right now because I have it connected to Dropbox. You have to go in and delete old files because it will fill up your Dropbox storage, but it saves everything for me.

The DVR can be connected to anything that has an HDMI port, so it should connect to your PC. It will record continuously if you set it that way, and you can definitely record from inside a window to the outside. You'll just have to adjust the camera so there is no glare from the window. It's a great system.

Yes you can switch each camera between infrared or color. I have one infrared and three color.

When you watch your clips there is a timeline. You can drag alone the timeline with your mouse and highlight a certain section, then hit trash.

It would record right up to the second someone cut them. It gets sent instantly to the DVR so it would be captured.

You need to download the Swann app and connect your DVR to it. Once you do that you should be able to just tap an individual camera to watch and listen.

Do you mean the red light that flashes on when it detects something or the alarm lights that are red/blue? The alarm lights don't stay on. You can adjust how they work in the settings.

It’s in the main menu under the ‘Record’ parameters. You can set each camera to record audio individually or have them all record audio.

1080p is better than 4k for night use. The light sensor on a 4k camera is smaller than a 1080 camera so reduces night picture quality
