if not much money check local ads for used solid panels, for same price you can get a 300 watt panel name brand that worked for someone else, plus no tax and no shipping cost from a private seller (people usually get rid of old panels when they upgrade)

@alaskaprepper don't forget about the cold weather multiplyer. There is an online low temperature open voltage calculator that will tell you what the actual voltage will be at a certain temperature. You may be surprised.

I had a similar one. I bought it as 20 watt and I think it was only 10 watt. It worked for about a year before the plastic broke down and it barely pumped any more. A total waste of money. I got lucky and scored a glass Renology 50 watt on sale. It is truly amazing. It is really too powerful for a trickle, but it pumps even in the shade. It is versatile light and portable with a 20 or 25 year warranty. Glass blows doors on anything plastic, especially these cheap plastic ones. The cheapest 100 watt glass panels on Ebay at $53.99 are better. A Rich, HQST or Renology are going to be really superior. Good flexible are very expensive and even those won't last as long as glass. HQST had 100 watt panels on sale for like $67. Stuff that dies in one year is really expensive.

had two of these panels on roof of houseboat this summer. ajusted three times during day. had over 100 ah in a day. in parallel over 15.5 amps at 14 .5 volts. just got 4 more and another 200 amp battery. run mini fridge most of summer plus some lights and charged phone👍👍

I bought a folding backpack solar panel for camping/hiking. Got a 7 x battery bank..ide charge the bank all day, then on my tablet, watched movies or read PDF ebooks at night... This system works great, the flexible panel is a great idea for a bug out bag

Be careful putting on top of rvs and cars. Some vanlifers have found some cheaper brands overheat and burn holes in rhe roofs. They need an air gab underneath to keep them cool.

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking about using waterproof PVC pipe, measuring the panel (e.g.pipe perimeter), and using Velcro fasteners and attach to the vehicle roof (sitting panel on top of PVC). Then I could detach and take it down once charging was completed.

heat kills panels not a problem here in alaska. so cheaper ones may last longer, but then you got to be concerned about the sub zero flexible ones.. that material does not usually care for cold weather

Those are very cheap panels and honestly are good to a point where i would recommend them to anyone same with the smaller oupes models for those who ain't got a lot of money to go out and buy a 1 thousand dollar or 2 or 3 thousand dollar system with 500 dollar panels.

They are different products. Rigid panels are cheaper and always have been. Compared to the portable lightweight panels sold by Jackery, EcoFlow, etc, yes these are cheap. These are something you can easily take with you while camping, a day at the beach or perhaps more commonly attach (safely) to your van/RV roof. These are also lightweight enough that you can probably attach them to a shed with a relatively flimsy sheet metal roof that couldn't possibly bear the load of the cheaper, but heavier rigid panels. Lastly, these days, it is the inverters, batteries, wiring, mounting/racking hardware, fuses, disconnect boxes, lightning arrestors, etc that make up most of the cost of a solar system. For someone renting who isn't allowed to install solar or a renter / owner who can't afford a full system, making a system exactly like he showed would let you slowly electrify. Layout panels in the backyard / porch, run mc4 extension cables in through the window, under the door, etc. Start with a 500 Wh or 1kWh generator if you can't get a 3 kWh to start. Run your lamps / TV / computers off of it. I only use around 90 kWh per month in my apartment. 3 kWh per day. 5 hours of sun at 600W would almost cover me. 2 strings of 600W or 700W would be enough to run some A/C (almost never needed in SF)

Of course you can't find cheaper panels on amazon (there are a few sellers). He's in alaska so I'm guessing shipping (which most won''t to alaska) is the deal breaker.

Your voltage will be higher if you don't shade your panels. Even the wires in front of the the panels will drop the voltage.

For home use always use 25 year glass panels that can be mounted easily outdoors. You will ALWAYS have some energy if it`s done right because even at daybreak they produce a few watts.Only cloudy days a 100w panel can produce 5 or more watts...enough to power an Onite USB light bulb or USB fan. Wire up a 12v USB car charging terminal. Done. These can also directly power DC rice cookers and DC Road Pro pots.

Best to start with the amount of watts your freezer will pull in a day. a watt meter is cheap. plug your freezer into that and you can see how much you are pulling. That will be your base number to help you determine the other components, whether that is a do it yourself with the controller and inverter or a dedicated solar charger. Sounds fun. GOod luck

Another reason they would be better is those solid ones are 3BB cells ( 15% efficient), and the new ones are 9BB cells (22 or 23% )😊efficient. Companies are currently changing out their 5BB ones to 9 or 10 BB ones

almost any solar generator will handle a 100W panel. This is because these 100W panels are only about 18-20 volt and around 5-6 amp. Your solar generators usually tell you the volt and amp range that they will use.

A solar generator is nice and portable, OR 8, [24 volts], 300 Amp Hours lifepo4 ,$1200 +24 volt, $400 all in one powmr 2400 watt pure sine , inverter/50 AMP House power charger/MPPT solar charge controller +about $100 in cables, plugs, outlets and breakers.

Looked in your list of videos but no sign of your review of the Duracell 1440 solar generator looks like removed l it good thing I had watched other videos I was looking for something that was available at the big box stores and cheap and until I found out it's charging parameters were all wrong and it was only good to use intermittently so one day of power and 1 or 2 days without then yearly replace the battery so do still recommend it and sell it
