I didn't know about the movie before I saw some footage from the film in a tribute to Gustav Adolf of Sweden (he is not in the movie, but fought in the same period). Great movie. Shows how dirty it was, compared to the clean costume dramas that make war look like a lot of fun.

The Spanish Habsburgs owned the world for more than two centuries, their armies ruled the battlefields of Europe and the rest of the World, but the population of Spain was sunk into misery and hunger. That was the reality of the empire where the sun never sets. This movie explains very well the situation of the common people inside the empire.

The ones that enjoyed every empire were the people in the top, the civilians had to work, love and kill for them.

I have watched this movie at least half a dozen times and find something new at each viewing. Underated and a facinating insight of the Spanish point of view of a turbulent time in European history. Viggo Mortensen as the indomitable Spanish war captain continues to impress.

superb done. Amazing video. I liked very much the music you choosed BUT why didn't you try with the O.S. Fanfare & Credits by Roque Baños? it's so inspiring...

@ussmemory :DDD It's because I love this movie soooo much!!!! Although it is great and well-made, it's not so popular and, in my opinion, it's far better than some hollywood movies...

eso es mentira de que los españoles siempre perdiendo, cada imperio tiene su inicio y su final... o acaso la gran Francia del rey sol, o el imperio de Napoleón no sucumbieron al paso del tiempo?

I read the books, I bought the movie, I recommend them highly. Except the CD I bought (made by Metropole) seemed to have some scenes missing. I hate that.

@panteramagee Thank you very much! Well, the track you refer to is amazing, but I didn't want to use music from the movie... ;D

@@macabeo Extensive...sure...'great"...not really. Bunch a criminals who robbed and murdered around the world...that's not the definition of "great" in my book. As far as God...what does God have to do with sin, murderers and robbers? Nothing. They are all in Hell right now.
