JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA - Welcome to Jeddah, home of Albaik, what is probably the most famous fast food chain in the Middle East, originally started in Jeddah. Today we’re going to try it out, it will be my first time!
As soon as you land in Saudi Arabia, you’ll notice that Albaik is packed - every single location is buzzing and busy at all times of the day. Now I’m not normally that interested in fast food chains, but I had to make an exception for Albaik because it’s so popular and loved and I had to see what it’s all about.
I really wanted to go to the original location in Jeddah, but couldn't’ make it there - not sure if it’s still open now - but we did go to one of the original locations, and a popular location in the center of Jeddah. I ordered most of their signature fast food dishes, the best of them being the broast chicken.
They have regular broast and spicy broast, and the spicy broast proved to be some of the greatest fast food fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It was so juicy and not that spicy, but packed with flavor. I have definitely figured out why it’s so popular!

For anyone watching this, you know that Mark likes what he's tasting if he does that head tilt with his eyes closed :D I never heard of this chain until I visited Jeddah on a business trip back in 2019 where a friend of mine insisted that I try it, and it was actually amazing! I didn't like the shrimp, but the chicken and the fish are to die for! Especially the spicy ones! I second what Mark said that it is the best fried chicken joint I ever tried! Props to Saudi👌

I grew up on Al-Baik, its absolutely iconic and has always been so crowded!Infact, there used to be an al-Baik and KFC located beside each other and in the early 90's there was hardly ever a crowd inside KFC whereas Al-Baik was bursting at the seams. OMG, Al Baik - the iconic fried chicken and garlic sauce I grew up with. I just wish they had Al Baik here in the States. here's how you can make a quick home version of that Garlic sauce if you wanna try it, it's Amazing with chicken Or fries: add to a blender : 2 egg whites a tea spoon of white vinegar or squeez of lemon 4 or 5 Garlic cloves salt then start adding about a cup of sunflower oil or vegetable oil slowly until you get the consistency of mayonnaise that's it. there are other ways to make it using potato or corn starch but this is the easier way for making small quantities at home, and they taste Identical.

The funny thing about Al-Baik is that even when the line is full, they dish out orders very quickly. I remember, back then you were given a number with a group letter. like A1 to C99. but still very quick. hehehe. I miss this a lot.
