Sky News host Andrew Bolt says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese resorted to “cartoonish scaremongering” in a recent rebuttal against nuclear power.
“It is pretty pathetic, by the way, when the prime minister today resorts to cartoonish scaremongering against nuclear power,” Mr Bolt said.
“How utterly childish.
“Labor must really be out of arguments against nuclear power.
“Resorts to complete untruth, or should I say, lying.”

Really Shorten? He was part of the Bourke, Bowen and himself group with the same policies. Only difference is that he is even more arrrogant than Albanese. The rest of the developed world all has nuclear, but somehow Australia is the smartest and will destroy the economy to save the planet. Has no one heard what Prof Alan Finkel said? As chief climate scientist he said that the climate will show no effect if Aus has zero emmissions.

The Labour government is misappropriating hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayers money and resources into uneconomical and unreliable renewable energy projects. The green carpet baggers are lining their pockets at everyone else’s expense. Several other countries including China, Indonesia and India are continuing to build coal fired power plants for cheap reliable energy. China uses this energy to produce wind turbine components and solar panels.

Aluminium smelters who are Australia’s largest user of electricity will launch a tender soon for wind and solar generated electricity. The majority owner is saying nuclear is out of the question because it is too slow and too expensive. The majority owner has sold their coal operations and closed their uranium mine in the Northern Territory. If hard-nosed resource companies are not supporting nuclear power - Toxic Ted and Plutonium Pete have a significant marketing problem.

The opposition to nuclear power in Australia can be summed up in five words: Three Mile Island, Chernobyl & Fukushima.
@johnwoodrow8769
@johnwoodrow8769 6 ай бұрын
Yep, you are right to raise these 3 high profile cases. These incidents clearly demonstrate the near impeccable safety record of well run and regulated nuclear power. Not a single person was injured in the Three Mile Island incident, and there is no evidence of any impact on the surrounding community or environment. All Chernobyl demonstrated was the perilous situation of the old soviet state. Every aspect of the incident, from the reactor design right through to the reason they were undertaking the ill fated test would simply not happen in the West. Fukushima likely wise just demonstrated the corruption and compliance that permeates Japanese society. Who on earth would allow critical safety aspects of a nuclear power plant to be built close to sea level in the most Sunami prone place on earth. Not only build it, but allow this obvious serious shortcoming to go unchallenged for years. NONE of these 3 incidents is a reflection of nuclear power, which has operated with a near perfect safety record for decades in modern Western nations.

See this is the disgusting problem with our politicians and I'm talking both sides here. Stephen Conroy has got it so wrong with calling matters of politicians spending tax payer money as frivolous. Are you kidding me? These politicians get special exemptions where they can claim their superannuation pensions early when they leave office and continue to work whilst getting that pension pay out. The are the ones who vote and set their wages. They also decide how much they get to tax us the workers of Australia so they can go on their self righteous spending sprees and hire their mates in bureaucratic roles. They get to travel the world free with their partners, kids and dogs and call these trips "work" when we all know they are doing jack sh1t during these trips that is at all related to work. The politicians spend most of their time at lunches and dinners getting drunk and eating expensive restaurant meals whilst claiming it all on the tax payer purse. they get allowances for living away from home arrangements which would eye water most tax payers and then stay with friends to save the allowance to buy an investment unit in most cases in Canberra like one famous past PM did (hint hint nudge nudge Malcom). I could go on and on and on how politicians today do nothing good for the public and are only there to serve themselves and their mates in the media. This is why not only in Australia but around the world the public absolutely hate politicians and get angry at the site of them. Just to give an example of the insanity of it all. If you are a normal office worker t5ravellling to and from work to the city you cannot even claim your train weekly ticket as a tax exemption even though the only god damn reason you are catching and paying for a twain ticket to the city is to go to work. How insane is that??????? The suit or shirt you wear for work as an office worker you cannot claim even if you never wear a suit outside of work? I mean I could go on and on with this insanity. This is what angers people. I'm not going to mention names, but at the school my 3 kids go to there is a politician and I see them regularly. This politician isn't just a back bencher but holds a significant portfolio. I can tell you now they have a lot of spare time on their hands. So don't F'n tell me these politicians work hard because they F'n don't!!!!! People are screaming NO MORE immigration. Lets get our own backyard in order before importing more students and uber drivers into the country and clogging our roads and public transport. But noooooooo the politicians and the media are tone deaf. Immigration is good when we are building things and we are sending those migrants directly into those infrastructure projects. We are not doing that anymore and all we are doing is filling up the Uber employment lines. Lets STOP this!!!! When was the last time a politician did anything decent for the majority of tax paying Australians? All they know how to do is spend out money with reckless abandonment without any checks and balances until they get voted out and then the other mob get in and do the same sh1t!

Both sides of government are to blame with where we are today. We had cheap power and had manufacturing and industry blooming here - before they privatised the power stations. Now driven by profit - we all lose. Cheap power comes from the government owning and regulating our essential services. And the renewable dream is just that, it has a part in the mix for sure and will reduce our carbon footprint but we just dont have the tech yet too pull it off. 1. Cost? Compared to what? A national infrastructure of extremely expensive and inefficient intermittent energy? Look at FSLCOE… nuclear is extremely cost competitive with coal and grid scale solar. It is actually cheaper per kWh than wind and rooftop solar.
@polarbear7255
@polarbear7255 6 ай бұрын
@@bretloyd8097 2. Useless at infrastructure? What sort of excuse is that? You picked a single isolated example. Still not a reason not to do it. We built all our coal stations from the 1960s to the 1980s- these are big expensive projects and to this day the backbone of our national grid. Snowy hydroelectric scheme? Seems we built that ok. We even built the reactor at Lucas heights- twice. Not buying that excuse.

Ok! Nuclear power plants cost a far bit, but might last 60 to 70 years, Labors wind mills, and solar panels will have to but replaced 3 maybe 4 times in 60 -70 year, now which energy source is cheaper to run ? A

Over the weekend both SA and Vic had power spot prices of over $500 per MW while both NSW and QLD had spot prices around $200. So lets compare the pair. SA,VIC high % of wind and solar, NSW,QLD much less. So why did the 2 states with more "Cheap" renewables have the highest cost? The government is lying to us

Andrew you are asking this question of someone with base load intelligence. He should sit down with someone who can explain things to him with stick figures the he might understand. Please explain to Bowen how to pronounce nuclear. Why do you have Conroy on the programme?😊 Bridget McKenzie works hard.

Are you serious, you never heard of the 'gold rush' in the 1800's the very wealth that built Melbourne. By the middle of the 1850s 40% of the world's gold was produced in Australia. Silver and copper exports in the 1840's built South Australia, Mt Isa mine in the 1920's. The first coal exported from Australia was 1799. From virtually day one the new colony was dependent on mining export revenue for its survival. Nothing much has changed.

He went on to compliment Tasmania for being so renewable energy driven, he forgot to mention that it is almost all hydro which is great if you can drop water downhill from large dams which unfortunately we can no longer build and anyhow mainland Australia has no geography for this as a mass source. Bowen also highlighted that Quebec is 98% renewable but also failed to mention this was also hydro, not wind and solar. NZ, Norway and other countries with suitable geography have lots of hydro. Delusion.

Alberta would certainly not be "starting from scratch". Canada has an established nuclear power industry and industry regulator. And their proposed SMR would be built in partnership with Ontario Power, an experienced nuclear plant operator.
