(English) - Dance of The Albanian National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances. This is a dance with motives from Mati region, which is called "Mati Girls". The first dancers in this dance are Olta Ahmetaj, Helga Saraci and Brikena Jaupaj. Choreographer: Genc Kastrati

These are Albanian traditional clothes from the medieval times. Illyrian women wore gowns similar to Greek ones. Our Illyrian women were always in power, we had queen Teuta who played an important role. Our women are beautiful, with amazing cheekbones, beautiful eyes and long amazing hair.

For you who don't know Mat at the beginnin was called Emathia and some belive that zone was the only who kept the name after the fall of the Ancient Macedonia called Emathia. Even in the helmet of our national hero Skenderbeg who was from Mat the catholics in Italy wrote Prince Emathia. After was called Matja and now Mat, our lake is also called Mat and the nick name of the lake is "the lake of the the king". You can notice that Mat is the only region in Albania that use a different tipe of clothes for the woman where the colour is not white and red but orange, and that is linked with the cult of Ancient Macedonia and their love for the figure of the Sun. I am not 100% sure and of course are needed more studies but these are the voices about the region.

You also mentioned that it looks similar to Sicilians that's cause they're Albanian and they're called "Arbereshe".. Albanians used to call themselves Arbereshe or Arberor and it's exactly the Same As Albanian.

It looks nothing like Greko-Roman. If there is any similarity, it is as the result of their descendancy from the Illyrians. Sicily is a region in Italy where many Albanians emigrated and they were called Arbëreshë. They are still there proudly accepting their identity and trying not to forget their mother language.
