I had the privilege of seeing both of these amazing men performing live in Austin back in the early '80s, but not together. Very comforting to see them here.

If you're really interested in STEVIE RAY VAUGHN you should check out some of the documentaries about his life. I've learned a lot about him from the ones on KZbin and they have interviews with people that were active in his life just amazing person all the way around! When you hear what the people have to say you will be more impressed with STEVIE. He was a truly special man. Thanks for the great reactions to STEVIE RAY VAUGHN 💜💜💜

It was well known that Albert King didn't like many people. He loved Stevie. Albert even called him his son.

My sister was at Stevie Ray Vaughan's last concert at Alpine Valley. He died in a helicopter crash that night leaving. I remember it well.

True professionals. Neither one tried to out play the other; egos are not a factor with these boys. Mutual respect at it's best.

Albert King is my very favorite artist. I'm from the South, I grew up on his music and have always loved him! From this same jam session, you should hear Born Under a Bad Sign, Don't Lie to Me and Stormy Monday. Stevie Ray is a blues guitarist, a third generation blues guitarist! Any song you pick is going to be the blues LOL. ( anytime you see these two recorded together and not in front of an audience, it's more than a jam session. It is literally watching Stevie Ray learn and watching Albert King just love watching his student! It's a beautiful thing!)

You should include the part during which Albert King talks about Stevie playing on stage with him at Antone’s, and how Stevie was skinny as a popsicle, and how, ‘I thought about you driving back to Chicago …’

This is conversation leading into song. SRV really respected those who came before him. Tommy Shannon basist and Chris Layton gave an interview about 10yrs after Stevie died. Once they showed up to play and BB King was opening for SRV and Double Trouble. He said no way should BB open for them so they switched. He was very big at the time but felt it was disrespectful to BB

Stevie loved and respected all the blues players that come before him, and you know you have become a legend when the people you considered legends start calling you a legend and he never let that go to his head.

The story about how their friendship started was at Antones I Austin Albert was on stage playing two nights and Stevie bugged Antone to let him sit in with Albert and would not shout up until they asked Albert and he said who the hell is little Stevie he finally gave in and he thought he would teach this young punk a lesson for asking to sit in with him because nobody had enough guts to ask that so Stevie got up there and Albert make up some notes and told Stevie to copy him and Stevie blew him away because he played them better than Albert did .

Glad to see that you've discovered one of our many Texas musical treasures!! We like to keep them around here, so we can see them live. We're greedy that way, I suppose...lol! You are correct, SRV is the GOAT. No other guitarist has ever or will ever touch him. I'm one of the lucky ones that got to see him live many times thru out the '80s, in every kind of venue across many states. But my fav place to see him was at the infamous Antone's blues juke joint in Austin. It's a verrry small venue for a man/guitar as big as SRV. I've sat at front row tables a couple of times there, where I could've almost reached out & touched him. U haven't seen/heard anything until you've seen him live. He does truly bcome one w/ his guitar & so mesmerizes & draws u in, that u also feel as if u are one with them!! It's that powerful & in your face...& freakin' amazing!! My ex used to talk to him on breaks (ex was a major blues connoisseur, not groupie, & Stevie knew it which was why they enjoyed talking.) I almost told him one time that I hoped he had insurance on those fingers of his!! Lol. Turns out he didn't need it, unfortunately!! His biggest influencers were his brother Jimmie Ray, Albert King, & Buddy Guy (omg...if u haven't ever heard Buddy Guy, he's one of the best bluesmen of all time!) Remember my name, I'll hook u up with some of our other Texas best kept secret musicians!! Even a couple of SRV's proteges! In regard to the jam session u just reacted to (which I enjoyed btw!), there's another song they do during that same session u would like. It's listed as: Don't Lie to Me - Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan. It's Albert 'schooling' Stevie lol !! And have u seen the video of Stevie Ray & Jimmie Ray playing the same guitar at the same time? Yep...it's out there!! Check it out!! Thx much...enjoy watching you!!

Oh my goodness. I'd not seen this clip before and it's so good on so many levels. The beauty of the music. The genius of the playing. The joy of the friendship. It is just so heart warming. I watched some of the US presidential debate yesterday and felt despondent. I needed to watch this today. Thank you so much for posting!

Another one, more goosebumps. Hats off to the commenters that share their knowledge of music with us. I look forward to these tidbits and the recommendations of songs that I didn't know existed. NOW: Stevie Ray's smile told it all. He knew he was in the presence of greatness and a dear friend, too. Neither one tried to overpower the other. Their music just flowed. It seems they enjoyed every minute and didn't care they were in a recording studio; just two friends talking about the history of their relationship. Thanks for your reaction to this masterpiece. As always, your enthusiasm shows and I love it! I would suggest a soundcheck that SRV and Double Trouble did. I looks like Stevie Ray just crawled out of bed. 🛌 That one was not professionally recorded It gives us a glimpse into their lives as musicians. kzbin.info/www/bejne/naOlnoStgbifetk
