The reason I believe he is the best is because almost all his losses were during tournaments. He never lost the first fight of a tournament, unlike Buakaw and Souwer. Also, the only times that Masato fought Souwer or Buakaw in the first or single match, Masato won. If Masato only fought single matches like in boxing, i think Masato would beat Buakaw and Souwer every time. I'm not including Petrosyan because he didn't enter K-1 tourney till after Masato announced his retirement.

Masato was going to fight Petrosyan, but Petrosyan broke a bone in his hand against Souwer, so he wouldn't have been able to fight on new years for Dynamite. Petrosyan has broke his hand several times since then as well, so i believe thats why they didn't fight.

But if they still had double hand clinch and unlimited knees in place then Buakaw would have a much bigger advantage than with the rules they have now. Petrosyan is good with his hands, so the current trules are in his favor. I would like the rules to go back to the old ones just to see how Buakaw does, but prob won't happen.

giorgio is a great fighter, but his record is very padded with decisions in Italy against non Italians. Im not saying he would have lost all of those fight but if it is close in Italy he always gets the nod. i also definitely thought he lost against Buakaw. Buakaw landed more shots and they were more powerful.. he didn't loose by much but he still lost. Buakaw has a good record as a thai fighting other thais in the mecca of Muay Thai i.e. Thailand. plus a good record against foreigners.

I believe Zambidis knocked Petrosyan down in one round, but the ref ruled it a slip. So i don't think Zambidis won, but i think it should of been a draw and went the extra round. But definitely Petrosyan had a much harder time with zambo than he did with most of the other fighters recently.

@crowley0312 Buakaw > Petrosyan, Buakaw is a K-1 legend, K-1 is the peak of kickboxing world, and it's over now. Just look at the fans or the videos that are uploaded on youtube? Who do you think have more fans? I don't even count the number of all Thai people who consider him hero. Between Muay Thai in Thailand and Kickboxing in Italy which one is bigger?

I think Zambo did better than the credit your giving him. He had Petrosyan on his heels most the fight, and i clearly watched Zambidis fist hit Petrosyan in the face and knock him down. It doesn't matter if it was luck or not.

true that he retired? That sucks. When Buakaw beat Masato in 2004 usng the old rules Masato's eye was shut before the fight started, and it was their third fight that night. In 2007, Masato beat Buakaw using the new rules which favored Masato, and it was their fist fight that night. All we need is for them to fight a single match using the old rules to declare the true champion, lol.

@yobro250 be not so shure about that bro remember giorgio won two times against souwer and kraus but only made it to a draw with buakaw (of course it was back in 07 or 08 but i think buakaw was playing save back than cause he couldn´t afford to get injured before a k1 max fight besides in my oppinion he should have won anyway but eithter way it would have been very close) and buakaw is no one to fuck with even now

Masato lost lots of grace because of K1 cheating. The extra round decision against Buakaw is ridiculous (any normal human knows that their first meeting, there should be no extra round). This's not counting many of his fights that people from many countries around the world gonna trash him because of K1 corrupted decision. He's the legend anyway the K1 old guard along with Buakaw and Andy. If he chose to fight Petrosyan when K1 give him a choice for his last fight, I might respect him more.

@crowley0312 dude, Buakaw is more famous in Japan becasue he's a frickin muay thai fighter who change to K-1 fighters and beat every top ten guys at that time (all of them are in their prime). There's prime in every sport, and Buakaw is now almost out of his prime. and all the guys in Buakaw's era who Petro have beaten are way out of their prime. Andy Souwer? Albert Kraus? Mike Zambidis? Buakaw beats all of this guys in their prime, but Petro has born a little too late I suppose.
