I’ve been contemplating changing my entry model for a while based on getting direction right 80% of the time but my entry point either gets missed by a tick and runs without me or hits a tick above my sl and runs without me and because i use 15M/5M for my entries, once we ch price usually doesn’t come back to the entry and runs without me especially on the 15M. I’m back testing with entering right after the 15M ch closes and so far I’m loving it and in the long run it yields more because I catch more trade. I’ll try it live with 0.5% risk and later increase to 1% once i build more data on its success because of the bigger SL. Thanks !! You really helped me with this video because getting direction right majority of the time and missing trades is way more frustrating 👏🏾
@AlbertBurgess7 ай бұрын
Getting the direction right is just as hard so if you can do that well the entry is likely what lets you down and stop placement

Awesome episode my dude! Sunday coffee routine watching is now my go to. Love the part about figuring out how far your winners run etc, I think this is something people don’t look at enough, we can move blindly and be holding our winners back, not out of greed but more so out of the potential of the trades. So you could think you’re a “bad” trader because you are in DD, yet you already take great trades but don’t know how to let them run. Year of money brother, love the focus, big week ahead 👊🏻

Love to hear this brother! I hope you’ve been well man! Yeah it’s often so overlooked everyone’s edge is different and some excel but the user fails to perhaps capitalise so wanted to get that out there in the landscape we’re in key to be capitalising on everything. It comes down to a lot mate what you think trading is and what you deem a “trader” you don’t need to trade everyday to make money but it all comes down to the edge, don’t forget 2-3% a month is solid once you have capital so it’s just finding the best way to optimise to get the capital mate

Love this video! It’s exactly where I’m questioning my approach. I often get the direction and framework correct, but my tight stop loss has been causing me to lose money. Adopting a wider stop loss makes me trade less frequently and prevents emotional reactions immediately after a loss, as it requires more movement or time to hit my stoploss when I’m wrong.
@AlbertBurgess7 ай бұрын
Yeah man we can often want to be too right or too perfect and this can lead us to not actually make any money at all, one of the hardest things that many struggle with is taking profit as everyone wants home runs but small wins add up and do wonders for the psyche

I think i am just like you bro my accuracy of predicting the direction of my trade is bang on point but what has been costing me is not having a wide enough stop loss because you got this psychological block that if i am wrong i want to be wrong with a minimal loss. But enough times the trade slightly pulls back takes me out then goes my way. Those little losses over a week, month etc add up and make a big difference. From now on need to trust in the process and my edge have some belief in my analysis and let the trade breath. But also learn to put your stop loss in a strategic place where it makes sense to you personally to say this trade is no longer valid not in a place because your scared of loosing.
@AlbertBurgess7 ай бұрын
That’s it man end of the day it’s about making money and if you find having smaller stops is the issue then you have to change that as you’re in control of where you put it, nothing wrong with a larger stop

Best think I ever did was open up the stops, I often now trade with a negative rr and for me it changed everything, my confidence on entries is much stronger. hey Albie, love the videos as always. You are absolutely right about what us say, its making money what matters not showing off the big winners. Money is made in the middle they say :) I was wondering, I know u are a long time trader and I saw u taking some B/E in the last month. Have you thought about taking partials off. Like take 75% off when u think u would derisk to BE and just leave a runner, maybe take an other 20% when is 2:1 and see what that 5% does. Those small runners can make some heavy lifting :D I know its not part of ur edge, but maybe its worth have a look into it.
@AlbertBurgess7 ай бұрын
Hey mate thanks man appreciate that! I deffo did think about partials it just tends to really cut the position hence just tping for now and seeing what happens also allows me to risk 1.5-2% if need be and still not be over risking or gambling appreciate the thoughts always good to discuss
