However, middle school is a very challenging time for all children, especially those who the "in-group" views as different. These are great kids with great parents. I find myself wondering if the incident in the store (where the older white woman called security on Kenyan's father) isn't a whole lot more about racism than it is about albinism. I mean, she would've acted that way about a black father with an adopted child, or a black male caregiver with a child he is responsible for. I guess these are two interconnected issues, two kinds of prejudice.

I have albinism. I can't tell you how many times I've been called a "Ghost" by people. Once, someone even told me I'd blend in with the pages of a book! Just last week, a group of kids were thinking about why I was so white. They didn't even make it secret! I was, like, 5 feet away! I'm fed up of how many times I've been bullied for having to wear a cap, or for having pale skin. I also get dizzy a lot because of it, and all people can do is laugh when I can't help it.
