+Tom Ryan Ashley Hutchings is the man who began the Electric Folk movement, and founded Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and The Albion Band. The Albion Band are *very* English, as you might expect from their name, and this is a very English song, for all sorts of reasons. Not necessarily a celebration of England, and especially damning of the class system, but English for all that - Ashley is very English, but not necessarily a fan of what England has become. Exceptionally well performed by Julie Matthews (who wrote it), it still brings a lump to my throat.

alan dicey,i spent some of the happiest years of my life in london, and in spite of being proud irish,i got on sooooo well with the english.but as you know, music knows no borders.if its good its good for all humanity. we all owe hutchings a debt.i know well what albion means.i wish i was in my twenties again and back among your gorgeous english roses.i wouldnt be so slow again.regretably im now in my mid seventies,so its all academic.

back again.in spite of all the english nation unwittingly did to my country, historically, this band softens the blows, and enables me to forgive them.im irish, and love all music.
