GR Supra due to it being on a new dedicated sports car platform (co-developed between Toyota and BMW while using the Cayman/Boxster as its template) and a solid B58D motor (which has already surpassed 900rwhp on stock internals). You get a sports car with a chassis comparable to the carbon fiber Lexus LFA (in both torsional rigidity and center of gravity) for an affordable $50k. With rumors of the 2023 Supra having a manual option, the new Z will offer little to differentiate itself besides a lower price point and being pure JDM. Though it's admirable that Nissan is releasing a new Z, it's still using the old z34 platform with lots of carryover engineering from the the 370z. The V6TT uses an open deck engine block and the fact that Nissan has yet to release any performance specs or even the curb weight of the Nissan Z is troubling.

My grandpa passed away nearly 2 years ago, one of the things he left was a Datsun roadster 2000 which he and his friends had built for racing. It sat unused for 35 years. I had every intention of keeping the car and restoring it because it’s a really cool car and had sentimental value because it was my grandpas. Once he passed away, my grandma just decided to sell it after we had told her that we wanted it and what we would do with it. That’s not even the worst part. She sold it to a neck beard in a van for about 1k worth of yard work. If she wanted something done she could have asked me instead of selling my most important connection to grandpa. such a good video. We've had Z cars my whole life (born in 74!). Your recitation of its history shares our family's emotional attachment to the Z car -- we LOVE them and owned every version. Then the Z32 came out... Nissan didn't hit a Grand Slam. They tore the cover off the ball, knocked out the stadium lights, and the ball still hasn't landed. OUR kids, teenagers today, see a Z32 and go "whoa! WHAT is THAT?!?!?" I have an Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD, which is absolutely wonderful, but I still want a Z32. It's a timeless classic. The Z hasn't been that exciting in a long time. The latest generation Z seems to recapture that emotion in all of us, even our notoriously ADHD teenage kids -- "WHOA! Have you seen the new Z???" I can tell you first-hand that the VQ30DDTT is a phenomenal engine. Best line: "Nissan released a roadster model in 2004 for your mom... :D :D :D "

My anticipation of the new Z far exceeds the release of Supra. Even the new BRZ is more desirable than the Supra in my eyes. Honestly what Nissan did here with the new Z is quite clever They used their own resources while reinventing them like the 370Z platform, the V6TT from the Q50 and Q60, then the 6-speed which helps bring this car to an easy $40k and that’s great value for a 400hp sports car in this day and age Toyota however did not have the resources to make their own sports car so that’s why they collaborated with BMW which doesn’t make the new Supra any less of a good car of what the new Z is it all comes down to preference really can’t go wrong with both

Now it's both good and bad. Good because most 370z mods will be plug and play as well as issues being known almost right out of the gate. But bad because it's not all new. But I can say the 370z is tried and tested. I both love and hate the changes. But have learned to love it more.
@AnthonyCessor3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't see it as a bad thing. Someone like me who hasn't owned a 370z isn't affected by this because it's a new platform for me, and the answers the pretty much all the questions I will have are already going to be out there. And for people who have owned a 370z will feel right at home with the chassis but be greeted with more power and revised suspension tuning and a much much nicer interior! I see plenty of 370z cars spanking at the track too, it's a solid chassis that still competes with newer cars. Most of us will be daily driving it anyways.

Honestly... The mk 5 Supra "Z4" could have been a legendary remake. But the BMW DNA spoiled it. The Nissan GTR and Honda NSX took it up a notch by competing with high-end supercars, where the mk 5 Supra only competes with midlife crisis sportscars. The mk4 Supra, more specifically the #36 Castrol Tom's Supra whas one of the few cars that managed to beat Godzilla in the JGTE championship. To me the mk 5 Supra is a huge leap backwards. Well done to Nissan for sticking to their roots.

This was truly entertaining. I think you have the gift. I watched the entire video and wasn't bored or felt like watching it later. Didn't like to see the 300zx on fire, sort of hated to see that. The fact that many people died while driving the 350z I think has to do with the fact that it was obtainable for many un-experienced drivers because of the price... and let's not forget that it is a rear wheel drive car. I am not a fan of the looks of the 400z but you get a lot for that price tag. That might make me even consider buy one. Even with a new Integra coming up I would buy a 400z without thinking of what the competition is bringing to the table. As long as I can get the interior in black and only black.

Nissan really went down hill when Renault too over but I don't think that was Carlos Ghosn's fault, in fact they've gotten even worse since he left...
@BigHeadClan3 жыл бұрын
Then you need to check your history, ghosn was intentionally cutting costs, refusing to innovate and chasing sales numbers for the past 20 years. The company ended right back where it started when he first took over. Also every single refresh since he left had looker massively better so I'm confused how things "got worse" since he left.
@darronpattel3 жыл бұрын
@@BigHeadClan Actually no that's your problem, because you are completely wrong. Their car's have gotten worse since Ghosn left, and I'm not talking about the way they "look" (even though much hasn't changed, and a lot of those new "looks" were developed while he was still working there, that most likely includes the Z), I choose to look at real life things, like how they perform... You need to back up what you're saying and not just make baseless claims when you respond to someone, so the burden of proof is on you my friend. So far, you have given no facts to back up what you're saying, and there is a lot of proof to the contrary, like the fact that they've gotten even worse since he's left. Lets not forget; you're tying to blame the problems of 2 shady companies on 1 individual person. So you better have some info that hasn't been shared in public to back that up, because I have seen nothing that would prove what you say as true...
@BigHeadClan3 жыл бұрын
@@darronpattel First you would be the one making baseless claims and need to provide context and proof as you are the accuser here, what I've said thus far is to check your history and expressed my confusion at how things are "worse " since Ghosn left as you provided no examples. You have now further confused things by stating not only are things worse but then stated Ghosn was still involved in the design process of the newest models?? What exact performance metrics are you referring too?? Reliability? Acceleration and handling? Sales? Don't dance around the subject. Also that "One individual" was elevated to near hero status within Japan and the Automotive world in the early 2000s and made the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors not only for Nissan but Renault and chairman of the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance. He was in total control and was involved at the highest level across all those companies and was the one directing for the entire Alliance. The only ones who had any influence over his decision making was the Board of Directors. But even in that capacity it required majority approval to over-turn anything Ghosn wanted to do, so any major decisions made by the company would have received Ghosn's stamp of approval to proceed. So its entirely fair to say much of what went on from the mid-2000s until 2020 were the results of decisions made by Ghosn because he was running the show . Heck the upcoming Z that this video is dedicated too was killed off under Ghosn at the end of its life cycle, it was only kept alive as a skunks-work project by a few passionate people like Mr GTR and Alfonso teasing the public with a VR30 Project cars which is effectively what we are getting now.

@eath993 жыл бұрын
the z31 is defo the best on here, the Z31 was very light, good power (185 - 200ish) hp, and a 5 speed manual transmission. All in a VG30ET engine, with the stock positions, it can make 550rwhp! New pistons, replace camshafts, new sparkplgus, cold air intake, slap a turbo in there (if u have enough space), new radiator, good exhaust setup, get good wheels with good grip, weight reduce it, new headers, ecu tune / dyno tune, oil change it, new oil filter, new mafs, and new coil overs and u should way more powerful. only downside is that its engine bay is HELLA tight.

The "deadliest" Z, reminds me that the S2000, had an almost exact issue. Basically, it was an entry level sports car, with a far higher power to weight ratio than other offerings. Lots of power, rwd, and inexperienced drivers frequently yield crashes, especially among drivers who learned on front wheel drive. If those cars had been released today or 15 years earlier, I'd bet less would have crashed. There's a reason courses like Skip Barber start you off in a miata.

Explain to me how Chevy built a completely brand new corvette, mid engine, completely new chassis and when it was announced had only a 1k increased msrp compared to the base model c7 stingray (since then the msrp has gone up another 3k which isn't a lot)? Almost all the parts on the C8 were new and not carried over from the C7. Toyota makes so much more annually compared to Chevrolet it's laughable that they can't even make their own sports car without the help of someone else. Technically the new Supra is also built off recycled parts aside from the Chassis.
