I've watched this video too many times to count over the past few years and you are so informative and genuine. Great video! I remember back in 1977 when 40 AM HT's came out. One could purchase a 23 AM HT for pennies on the dollar. How my friends and I wished for SSB in a HT back then. Now I'm old and gray and it's out, even with FM! 🤓

Its the only handheld i know of with SSB apart from the magnum 1012/dragon which are the same i think just different names

great little handy, got mine from Knights a few years back. Widebanded it myself and carried a small bridging clip to switch to export mode on-the-fly. Had some good reports on it too from Spain & Italy during the summer of 2017. Anyway, great little handy to mod, nice rig all together. 73'

I have and sadly the rubber buttons have worn down making it a bitch to change modes etc. I actually have to use the long end of a Biro lid to change modes etc. I find them quite warblled on ssb especially with nearby stations and the rf gain up full. I often try give it a chance but end up frustrated and it gets chucked back in the glove box. Not ideal for using when driving as the light doesn't come on when changing frequency or mode. I'd like to get the buttons fixed and give it a proper run out. Great video. 73's from 29TM063mobile Ireland

which antennas are recommended to considerable increase the sending/receiving range?

The stock antenna will get you a couple of miles maybe more in a high spot . I’m going to try my new telescopic antenna I use for 10m will also work on 11m this should work better.

on the ham bands are the last 2 digits step or frequency? if its frequency how can i change the entire frequency at once?

Not used it in ages . Think the last 2 digits are the frequency you have to go through them until you get the frequency you want. If your on 28.400 and want 29.400 you have to keep going through until you get to 29.400

Hi there Mate, would this radio work in Australia? Maybe a silly question but will the single sideband on the radio work in Australia? I was just told this radio would be useless here in Australia? Cheers..

Hi what are the frequencies you use in Australia? 26.965-27405? The radio will do 25 to 30mhz it will cover 11m and 10m it even does repeater shifts

alan read never herd of that mod the only mod I’ve seen it the frequency expand mod I’ll look into the power mod

PS means power save mode. Ive just had a quick look at the manual and couldn't find anything about it in the manual. ill charge mine up and have a play with it to see if I can remove it
