Interesting little sets. I don't like that you can't detach the mic from the main unit though. If it gets damaged, game over for the radio (unless you solder a new one in). But at least it's not one of these tiny round mics that you tend to get with a lot of new multi norm sets and the 10M Anytone sets.

+Chris TheHulk (Pepsiholic2008) The Mike is on an internal connector, so may well be available from the main dealer, who I understand are Nevada. With a radio this small I'm not sure how they could have done a front panel connector anyway.

Hmm, maybe something that can be looked into then :) Yeah seems a little too compact to have a socket in there

Thanks for uploading this, after seeing how far out the power and deviation are from the factory I would not buy a cb radio unless I can research which pots to adjust to bring it into specification. After seeing your reviews of the Albrecht and the CRT one, I purchased a CRT one this week and am very happy with it, its actually even smaller than I expected. On a slightly different note I have an old CEPT Danita 1240 which has low power output (2.3 watts) and low deviation (1.5) but looking at the schematics I cant be sure which pots to adjust. Have you serviced a 1240 before? I have searched the web high and low but there is no info available on what to adjust. Any guidance would be appreciated. Regards, Simon

+simon walters There is a 1240 kicking around the workshop. I've never seen inside one either, so I'll do a video in as few days time with you in mind!

That would be amazing, thank you, i note on the scematics a switch for am/fm shown as SW204 by R92 as mine is a cept set i would consider installing a switch if this were possible. I wonder if your set is the same. I shall keep my eyes on your youtube channel. Keep up the good work. Simon, MW1DTT

Richard. It looks as if the 4 buttons on the Albrecht AE6110 are lightly backlit unlike the CRT ONE N and possibly Team which seem to be a bright orange rubberised button . Do you recall if that is correct please?

I'll see if I can check

Hi Chaps, I have bought one of these...or a close cousin. visually the same but instead of country settings we have bands AE, BE, CE, DE etc. but it does cover the UK FM frequencies but just a bit off. I imagine there is a jumper etc. to change from bands to country codes, Of course it may well be just different software so I am chasing moonbeams. Any help gratefully recieved,

Have you looked for a service manual? You say it's a close cousin, so I therefore assume it isn't an Albrecht AE6110. If you are in the UK, what you have at present is illegal. email me rshireby@yahoo.co.uk

Hi Richard, generally they set them lower ,so when you switch to Am it has a little bit more swing\headroom and less top clipping distortion on AM ,as its a series modulator using of the voltage regulator modulated. There's also a mod ive done to add audio clipper on TX audio for better punch on FM mode, just a BAT54 back to back diode package, placed at the DEV in audio on pot.Clips the AGC style audio in a almost square wave(instead of sine wave) and gives really punchy FM TX audio.Pop me a msg & email addy if you want the mod Richard. All these new multi-Norms FM are set for 10khz spacing fm system, not our UK 11.25Khz system ,so yes deviation can be a tad lower when using with older UK CBs typical 2.00khz dev max for EU regs I generally set them for around 2.20khz on 1khz tone, and speech drives them average 2.2 to 2.35 khz Deviation average ample and not OTT,as RX filters in these Multi-Norms lot tighter, than old UK specs. Another fab vid. Rob

Thanks Rob, yes I like dev to be 2.2 ave, and none of these sets will ever be used on EU FM...let alone AM. EU is totally unuseable here; I'm talking about 1.5 miles range as against 35 miles on UK frequencies. Not helped by an RAF base 1mile away & another (Cranwell) 4.5 miles away. CAn't even listen to 'The Archers' on radio 4 without the click of the ground radar! Richard

Matthew, we have two knackerd ones here that have been 15W modded & both will no doubt be written off. All this power business is b.s. I see youtube videos of people proving 15W with a icky mouse power meter into an aerial & no even a dummy load. I did a video on power meter comparison a few years ago. It went without saying that the Zetagi ones read about 100% more generous than reality. I did a video on expected range a few years ago too & the difference between real 4W & real 15W isn't very much at all...probably a 25% gain without looking at the data. I regularly get contacts up to 9000 miles away on 1W morse on amateur radio. Richard, G0OJF
