The battle of Albulena (or also known as the Battle of Ujëbardhë) was a battle fought on September 2 in front of the fortress of Berat, this city Known by the Ottoman Turks as the second Belgrade 1457 between the Albanian forces under the command of Skënderbeu and the Ottoman army under the command of Ishak bey and nephewof Skanderbeg, Hamza Kastrioti.Skanderbeg had been the lord of the Albanians for more than ten years and had achieved victory over the Ottoman authority. However, with the defeat in Berat under the rule of İshak Bey, some of the men he trusted betrayed Skender Bey, one of them was Moisi Arianit Golemi. a year later, Golem returned with the Ottoman troops under his command, but was defeated at the Battle of Oranik and joined Skanderbeg's army. Later, unhappy with the situation, Hamza Kastrioti betrayed and brought a second Ottoman attack force with Ishak Beu. in late May 1457, the Ottoman army arrived and marched directly into the Mat River valley. Although Skanderbeg tried to delay the vanguard force of the attackers, he decided to withdraw as the main Ottoman army approached. Hamza Kastrioti was used to Skenderbeu's tactics, Skenderbeu added a new tactic. He divided his forces into groups and ordered them to advance through the mountains in different directions, unseen by the Ottoman forces, until the appointed date and the signals would be given when the date arrived. Albanians advanced without being seen in different directions until September, the Ottoman soldiers were fed up and thought Skanderbeg was defeated. on September 2, 1457, Skanderbeg ordered the groups to assemble and launch a surprise attack on the Ottoman camp, leaving more than 30,000 Ottoman soldiers killed and captured. Among these soldiers was Hamza Kastrioti, later imprisoned in Naples, Italy. this victory raised the morale of the Albanians. They were very few in number, but they continued to fight even after that. The Battle of Albulena is seen as Skanderbeg's brightest victory against the Ottomans. however, at the same time, this war was the peak of Albanian resistance and the beginning of a period of Skenderbeu's fierce war with the Ottomans that would last a quarter of a century. in fact, despite the death of Skender Bey in January 1468, the war continued until 1478, and the war ended with the fall of Akçahisar and the death of Skender Bey from malaria in the same year, and the Albania of Skender Bey was conquered by the Ottoman Empire.

@@cpt7752 Ironically converting to Islam is what helped keep Albanian culture and language intact because intermarriage with the orthodox neighbors was not allowed by their religions for example a lot of the orthodox Albanians were assimilated into Greek and Serbian culture after the great powers separated Albanians in 1913 the Muslim Albanians who wouldn't assimilate were either killed or expelled from their homes and forced into modern day turkey which is the reason there are up to 5 million Albanians in that country
