Plot twist The Weeknd’s tour she was on was called “The Fall” and it was her first gigs as a performer. She toured with him again during “Beauty Behind the Madness” and not long after they both unfollowed each other. So a lot of people in the fandom are speculating that song is about him.

I’m one of BANKS’ long term fans, she’s been my favourite artist since I discovered her goddess album. It is SO good to see this reaction because it is literally a reflection of the talent she has an artist. Like you said not everyone is going to like her but she puts so much into her music that you can hear. I’d also like to add I think it’s funny you mentioned how her voice is used as an instrument because her song writing process sometimes starts out as a sound, then a syllable, then a word, so it’s funny you picked up on that! I’m sure you have already but check out her other 2 albums. The altar was my favourite for sooo long I didn’t think she could top it until she came out with III. Thanks for the review!

It will. I went through reviews before I listened to it and when I did my first listen it was one of the few I didn't like. It's grown on me but it gives me more Hips Don't Lie Vibes when the album is more the Weeknd so I think it's one you just have to come back to.

BANKS is one of my favorite artists! I'm obsessed with this album right now. It's hard for me to choose which songs are my favorites but I've probably listened to Contaminated the most. You should definitely do first listen reactions for The Altar and Goddess (Deluxe), her second and first albums. She also a few singles that are not on albums- Underdog, Crowded Places, and Better. i was probably recommended this because i'm a huge BANKS fan. I'm seeing her in september for the first show of her tour and I'm so excited!! I was big into R&B/90's hip hop and rap as a kid (90's kid, listened to the radio a lot, first album was kriss kross lol). Then i got into prog rock in my teens, then I got into electronica and industrial in my 20's and now that I'm in my 30's the artists i gravitate to tend to have a lot of those influences. I definitely hear the hiphop/r&b stuff in her, but you can also hear like electronica influences, NIN style industrial influences, 2010's witch house influences, like purity ring or austra, etc.

Her voice is an instrument. She said in an interview that she does the instrument parts in her voice , because of the natural effect she already has. Most of the effects you hear on her voice is her actual voice.

The weeknd and banks did a tour together about 10 year ago!Her first album had couple songs on mainstream radio for a few months but she didn't want to become huge because the label was going to change herself and she didn't want that. I forgot but there's a song her explain about this.

I LOVE Banks, if you watch interviews with her she says that her first album was like having someone go through her diary, her second was like she deliberately left her diary out to be read, and this album is putting that diary on full display. And I read somewhere that the ex she talks about in her first album started the song Godless, gave it to her, and she finished the song- don’t know if it true or not.
