My favorite New Order offering. Equal parts sadness, exhilaration and discomfort. Matin Hannetts production created a distance and space between the instruments and the distance of the vocal mix behind the instruments only served to remind us of the ever present loss of Curtis. I saw them play around this time in Melbourne (where they debuted a proto version of Blue Monday) and the album captures the distance between the Band and the audience in those early days. Look on KZbin for the concert footage from the Sea View Ballroom Melbourne 1982.😃
