Albuquerque, New Mexico is an incredible city full of culture, heart, and people with a bright vision for their future. Downtown Albuquerque is divided into six districts, each with unique signage, foliage, and iconic images. [1] Courthouse District is in the north (Marble Ave to 7th Street) and home to the Pete V. Domenici U.S. Courthouse, Bernalillo County Courthouse, and Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse. [2] Warehouse District (2nd to railroad tracks) features the Old Santa Fe Railroad Freight House and is full of railroad area warehouses. [3] Plaza District (7th to Roma) is the epicenter, filled with some of the city's most iconic sites, like the Albuquerque Convention Center, Compass Bank Building, Albuquerque Petroleum Building, Civic Plaza, and Bernalillo County Library. [4] Entertainment District (Central to First Street) offers Albuquerque's most historic buildings and a rich quality of shopping, dining, nightlife, and arts, like the KiMo Theater. [5] Transportation District (Central to 1st Street) is home to the Alvarado Transportation Center, a multi-transit hub hosting Amtrak and other major transportation companies. [6] Casa District is the southernmost area (Gold to 10th Street) with the PNM Building, Alvarado Square, and largest residential towers in New Mexico.

On one of my first trips to downtown Albuquerque as a child we parked on the roof top of the Fedway Department Store garage after a two hour drive from home. We kids weren't used to walking for hours on pavement while shopping and were ready to beg the adults to buy us insole cushions from Woolworths. I bought a loose piece of polished turquoise from Maisels.
