Adding diacritics and punctuation to the Qur'an - Has the Qur'an been distorted?

Non-Muslims say that the Qur'an was without diacritics and punctuation, and they also claim that many mistakes and distortions appeared in the Qur'an after adding diacritics and punctuation to it.
