Great review Myke! Bought this after watching the review. Been obsessed with the album ever since.

I too was pretty surprised how emotional and good this sounded. I checked out of this bands activities after their 2nd album for some reason. Thanks for watching!

Awesome to see Mike here reviewing this album. Alcest are one of my favorite bands and, while this album isn't breaking any new ground for the band, it's really good. Definitely one of my favorites of the year.

We are psyched Myke is helping out with reviews when he has some time. I found the new Alcest to be refreshing and free sounding. But this is coming from a guy who dropped out of their activities early on. Thanks for watching!

I am actually super excited for this one to be honest. Myke C is the Man and well, Alcest. Is Alcest. Well done Marty and Heavy Metallurgy.

Great review, I definitely dig this album and could see it high up on the ol’ year end list! It reminds of lighter more hopeful Kodama which I could definitely use this summer

What I’ve heard of the album has been an eye opening experience. I dropped off this bands journey rather early on. It was great to hear Neige maintain the vibe he created at the beginning, while advancing into even more mature musical territories. Thanks for watching!

Cool to see you doing Metalurgy reviews! I need to check this, was into Alcest back in the day, kinda lost track of them. I get Envy, also a bit of Mew.

Strikes that perfect balance between all of the elements of their sound for me, similar to Kodama. I think this is their best album yet.

I agree with you for sure. It sounds like a great and mature balance of his musicality. Thanks for watching!

Brit here, I love Alcest and I love French and Dutch languages. I love seeing Americans mangle languages, even English 🏴. Try getting an American to say Leicester it’s very funny.

Does anyone else with a vinyl version know of it should come with an insert with lyrics and credits? I got the black yolk and there’s no insert. Just a record and sleeve.

The misconception of Reincarnation comes from a Christian Perspective of this Concept (Definition Misdirection)... Reincarnation is not meant as a rebirth after you die because from the Buddhas point of view you've always existed & will always exist before you were born and after you die... What Buddhist Reincarnation really means is with each moment (Breath) you die a series of rebirths (Buddhism is all about being Mindful in the Present Moment) its not dying and coming back in a different body (Energy is Immortal)... its Living & Dying with each Breath... Buddhism is a Philosophy not a Religion (its Atheistic/ has no horses in that Race) Buddha was never a God/Deity... Its been exploited just like everything else by Authoritarians & Religious Fanatics... ^Hinduism is NOT the Buddhas Philosophy it existed before Siddhartha Gautama & was one of the things he was against... After his death they managed to merge Hinduism with Buddhism but its not what was meant (its a Deceptive Interpretation)... & then the Western Cultures distorted it further with their Dogma *Japan as well as most Asian country's... Atheism is held as the most widely accepted Perspective *Theres studys that show Atheist are actually more in tune with Nature than Religious people... *Atheism only means you don't believe in Deities/Gods... It’s not incompatible with Spirituality... (same goes for Buddhism)... The (Universe)Nature is My Temple... Individualism *Neige' Spiritual Instincts are Inspired by Buddhism... (Updated) Alcest - Les chants de l'aurore is a another great work of Art by this Unique band (Blackgaze pioneers) One of Poetic Imagination & Ethereal Beauty... Nice Review

Great comment. I totally agree. And this common misconception was exactly why I didn't wanna directly say it was reincarnation. I didn't want the comment section flooded with angry false claims and I didn't wanna push an implication on Neige that I wasn't clear on. But I'm curious where you got that he's Buddhist. I've never seen this. Not saying you're wrong at all...just saying I didn't know this and I'm wondering if he said it himself. I've always only seen him say he was spiritual which is why I phrased it as "spiritual life cycles" instead of explicitly "reincarnation."

Beige being a Buddhist completely makes sense with the absolutely balanced and spiritually charged vibe his music produces. Thanks for watching!

@@mykectown Heard him talk about his interest in Buddhist Philosophy in interviews... Dont remember if he labels himself by that term but i do know he writes, practices & has a deep connection with the Philosophy... besides have you seen how he dresses? (Kimonos which were introduced with Buddhism in China/Japan)

Define spirituality for me. Neige: I think it’s a sensation, a feeling that there’s something greater out there. I’ve never been into standardized religion - like what we have in France, for example - but I do believe in God. I don’t believe in God in a traditional way, I will clarify. I don’t go to church. I don’t think like the usual Christian does about God. I think my relationship with God is about questioning where I fit. How do I fit into this spiritual world? I’ve been involved in yoga and meditation for the last two years, and both of those things have really opened my mind to the present. We always think about the past or the future, but not the present, the here and now. There’s something very spiritual about thinking about the here and now. That’s very hard to capture, I’ve learned. (decibelmagazine/interview... October 14, 2019)... *Updated my original comment "Theres studys that show Atheist are actually more in tune with Nature than Religious people"

@@kingIgor Hey, thanks. I've seen that interview. I assumed you were saying that you saw him explicitly say he was Buddhist as opposed to spiritual. It's not a big deal or anything. I just didn't wanna label him something he wasn't labeling himself. But thank you for sending that over! Either way I find his take on life and the world really interesting.
