2:24 - 4:00 is just so fucking perfect. That guitar solo part with the sound of children playing outsides takes you back to your childhood immidiately, you can't even do anything about it. It will take you back 100%. This Song and Souvenirs D'Un Autre Monde put nostalgia into a listenable experience like nothing else ever did.

I discovered Alcest back in 2013, I remember falling asleep with my gf with this one album on. Then I woke up, album still playing, she was still sleeping and I had a really strange feeling that I can't describe, it was some sort of melancholy and deep calmness at the same time. That feeling hasn't a name, it was very strange. Perhaps calmness because I was with her, perhaps melancholy because my future-I was looking at that moment that wasn't going to happen again as she abandoned me.

@@ivanivan5511 He certaintly was atleast one of the fathers of Existentialism. I especially remember one of his taughts, about how it is strange that during the positive experience sometimes we take a step back - little distance, to capture it in a way, in order to fully remember it. Like we are investing in ourown future nostalgia. I can see why music of Alcest had said effect on you. It is sad, nostalgic, yet so peaceful and commforting at the same time. Although I don't have similar experience as you, I have been falling in love in Alcest's music recently. It is a rediscovery for me.

@@vojkanjovanovic7940 I honestly had no idea of this thought you mentioned. I feel now I might have experienced that same feeling or mental phenomena or at least something similar. It was like being nostalgic of the present which it sounds contradictory, but now that I'm in the future I do feel that same nostalgia remembering that moment.

Alcest is Neoplatonic, high- and late-scholastic; and also, Wordsworthian ("And I have felt / A presence that disturbs me with the joy / Of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime, / Of something far more deeply interfused, / Whose dwelling is the light of settings suns, / And the round ocean and the living air, / And the blue sky, and in the mind of man; / A motion and a spirit, that impels / All thinking things, all objects of all thought, / And rolls through all things."). If we're not too smug to let ourselves trust our true feelings, we love this band.
