13:55 Learning how to read is not required in any way as far as I know. I've almost always done some brewing way before I could read, and haven't had any kind of limit of 1 potion per brew. For some reason you can learn the recipes from recipe books even without learning how to read. The only problem there is with not knowing how to read is that it's a bit challenging to comprehend the instructions in the brewing book if you don't know or remember the process for the potion you're brewing. But great video as always!
@Griff_Gaming9 ай бұрын
That's very true, you can learn the recipes before learning how to read but I recommended to learn reading first for a couple reasons. One, like you mentioned it's next to impossible to work out what the recipe says until after learning to read (imagine a new player trying to figure it out lol) and after learning to read each recipe you learn gives reading XP whereas if you read the recipe before it kinda goes to waste
@wombat41919 ай бұрын
@@Griff_Gaming That reading XP is a good point. I think the first time I brewed most recipes was without knowing how to read, deciphering them is not impossible and it's kinda funny. But yeah, it's better to actually know what each recipe says. I was just wondering what was that only 1 potion per brew thing you mentioned.
@Griff_Gaming9 ай бұрын
@wombat4191 so I always recommend brewing without boiling, it's just faster that way. If you don't know how to read and haven't learned the recipe, trying to do it without boiling will only ever give one potion at a time. At least in all my tests, after doing the potion correctly and getting "trial and error" it should produce 3 everytime even if you skip boiling the potion

If you follow the river east from Talmberg, almost immediately you will see a cave in the forest to the right. There’s about 250 herb Paris scattered around it in the open, and not obscured by foliage like the road to the executioner is. Also, if like me you are hunting for cave mushrooms then don’t bother exploring the mines of Skalitz for them. I spent hours getting lost in the mines to collect maybe 5 Also, if you follow the river west from Samopesh, the area where the forest starts has a woodland garden full of all kinds of mushrooms, including about 100 Fly Agaric Samopesh in general is an amazing place for herbs. They grow in large quantities in all the fenced fields around the town and there’s 4 woodland gardens within the town. I got 50 belladonna, around 130 of herb Paris and comfrey and at least 300 of all the other herbs

@@Griff_Gaming Check out my comment after editing. If you ever decide to do a part 2 of this video I think Samopesh is a much simpler area to use for if a player wants to do a single herb run to collect enough ingredients for the entire game. It is also really close to your location for 100 cobwebs. The only hurdle now is cave mushroom but I am currently exploring every cave and interesting place on the map logging where cave mushroom spawn and in what quantity. A lot of interesting places are also caves or cellars and have cave mushroom in them. I will have a decent run for cave mushrooms ready soon

Completely agree. The game makes you work for almost everything, even repairing your weapons on the wheel took some getting used to but once you get it, you just appreciate it because when you mix a potion, sharpen a sword, pick a lock, or pull off a combo that's you actually getting better at the game rather than just a number getting bigger, therefore you do more damage. Part of the reason I love this game

28:39 Right here you've given a reason why using poison rather than bane is a good idea. As long as you hit everybody equally before the poison runs out, and you don't hit him twice in a row. Though I don't know if twice in a row will add poison over poison, but assuming it does then you want to avoid that little situation. The key here is You've damaged them, and now you can kill him with your regular weapon that isn't poisoned
@marcm.3 ай бұрын
I'll have to try this and see if it works out
@Griff_Gaming3 ай бұрын
In theory maybe but couple problems. The poison will most likely still take them out either way. You can't just hit the opponent and immediately proc the poison. You have to do some damage before it's applied and (not always but usually) make them bleed. Chances are by the time it's applied their health is already below 50 and they die to poison damage either way. That's why I always prefer Dollmaker over any health potions on regular runs. For challenge runs that I do I will mix it up and use what I need but general playthrough, Dollmaker is king

Crazy, I've been playing this game since it came out but for some reason have always avoided wikis whenever possible, and all my knowledge on the game has been 99% my own findings. Since the announcement of KCD2 I've been going crazy doing playing it way more often than normal, prioritizing it over other games in my library more than normal, and have been watching other people's guides and challenge runs and stuff. I showed up hoping to know how to do alchemy better since it's my second least favorite skill next to Houndmaster, and ended walking away with the confirmation that it's reputation that matters most when selling. I had a feeling but never bothered to properly do tests. Weird I found that out in this video of all places.

Is it just me, or did they make a complete guide to potions without explaining how to make potions? I did skip through this quite a lot, so I'm genuinely asking. I've used all my Belladonna and Nettle trying to make the Saviour Schnapps and haven't made one successfully in about 5 attempts, I've followed the instructions in the book next to the alchemy 'table' and still failed miserably. So there is definitely something I'm missing, and this "guide" didn't explain any of that?
@Griff_Gaming7 ай бұрын
What's there to explain? Put the base of the potion in (water, oil, spirits, or wine), add the other ingredients in the specified order and quantities, if it asks to grind put it in the mortar and pestle and grind it before adding it, and if it requires boiling then pull the bellows until you see bubbles coming from the potion (not just once to where you have the flames going) but you really don't need to boil as the video states. Then complete the potion with the phials on the left. I've never found trouble following the steps in the book so I didn't include that in this guide but is there any part of those steps that's giving you problems?
@jamesoshea5807 ай бұрын
@Griff_Gaming Thank you for replying! I'm really not sure why it's not working, I'd like to blame it on a glitch or bug or something, but I doubt that. I don't remember seeing bubbles at any point, but your comment and video say I don't need to boil it. So I've got literally no idea. Thanks again for replying.
@Griff_Gaming7 ай бұрын
No problem. You don't need to boil to brew them but if you were trying to you need to pull bellows at least 3 times to see bubbles. Follow this video step for step and see if that gets you a results. If it does try it again but cut out the boiling step. If it doesn't then try to reload a prior save and try again. Hope this helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pousn3pvZruqrKssi=dfy4mX77aF3cNQ0P
