I'm so grateful for putting this episode on. Sometimes I feel that people can miss so easily how it is to be an alcoholic of this kind , it seems to get more and more "diluted" the cunning ,baffling and POWERLESSNESS of our disease....I am extremely grateful you have put this particular story on today.🌱

The word "disease" only appears once in the 164, in reference to Step 4 and the spiritual malady. Rather the word "Illness" , and more importantly, RECOVERED, appears numerous times :-) Am grateful I eventually was awakened to this reality as holding alcoholism as a "fatal illness we can recover from" has proven far more effective than endless "disease" talk, imo. Too many today love the word "disease" as it gives them the idea they are victims ( just about the worst possible thing a sick untreated alkie can be assisted in believing as most of us arrive like that anyhow). The words on the page for the Win!

I too applaud this recording for us all to enjoy and more attune ourselves to the knowledge of how and what AA is and how it has come to be the saviour it is to us all as previously, present and future lost souls. Thankyou so much for this service, to all involved!

Henry tried so hard to believe. Somewhat of a doubting Thomas I suppose. But I think in the end as a tear trickle down his cheek he talked with God finally.

Id say that bootleg stuff did so much more harm than regular alcohol ever did.

I love this… in style of Hubert Selby Jr…. such a compelling reaction to Bill passing it on in the early days. I often wonder why it’s no longer in the big book.

In the end, Hank, fueled by a variety of resentments, started drinking again, most likely around Labor Day of 1939. “Part of Hank’s unhappiness, Ruth added, involved her; ‘Hank and I were interested in each other. I had at one time seriously considered marrying him.’ When Ruth finally decided not to, Hank blamed Bill.” (Pass It On, p. 228)

There is no difference between being an alcoholic and being a drunkard. Its the same thing. Jesus Christ can set you free from the sin of being a drunkard. Who ever the Son sets free is free indeed. Believing and trusting in the person and work of Jesus Christ and repentance and faith is all that is required.. Repentance and faith will produce obedience.

I'm curious if that book experience strength and hope which contains a lot of the stories that were cut out of the early additions of the big book if. This story is in that. This is my first time hearing this
