Being an Englishman with limited knowledge of American universities, I have what may be, a silly question to ask. Why is it that all American school marching bands, seem not to have white students in them ?

Thus is an HBCU...meaning this is a historically black college. These schools were started in the southern states of America because people of color were not allowed to attend other universities. They have higher (but not exculsivly) rates of minority students than other collages. If you look up schools in nothern America like Pennsylvania, Ohio, NY etc you will see white students in the bands. However with the colder climate the bands tend not to march into events.

I'm also European, but I never understand when Europeans ask questions like this. Living in the UK..u obviously see Jamaican brass bands....or Nigerian percussionist...do u ever ask where are the white people? My dutch friends ask similar questions. What is homecoming? Why do they have marching bands...? The same reason you celebrate carnival. It's like African American culture is always called into question and has to be justified.
