Your videos on ALCO are particularly interesting. I didn't know very much about the company until I started watching your videos.

You left out Indian Railways,and Varnasi Works! They have on the roster,over 3000 plus Alco derivative locomotives,and almost all,using the C-C wheel arrangement! Utilized in both Broad,and Narrow Guage! The engines are 251 derivatives! Some extra history! Thank you 😇 😊!

I really enjoyed your video. I've always liked trains, but mostly I was just a fan of watching them running up, and down the rails. But over the last couple years I've gotten more interested in the workings, and history of railroad locomotives. So with that said, I find your videos like this very informative.

You gotta give Alco credit. They tried really hard. Politics gave G.M. (EMD) the inside track during the war, which left Alco and Baldwin trying to play catchup. It didn't work, but they tried.

I still find C630/C636s chassis fascinating because BHP Iron Ore and some others had their Alcos rebuilt into varies of Dash-7 and Dash-8s with their unique Pilbara cab while still keeping their original Alco bogies and fuel tanks

Both the Alco C630 & C636 locomotives look good in the Penn Central Livery.

I am surprised that you did not mention the Greek Railways that still operate both ALCOs and MLWs! There is a huge amount of great footage of them, in both passenger and cargo services! I should know, I have been traveling with them the better part of my life!

Another great documentary, Peter! It's interesting to think how things may have been different if alco had bid on and won the South African order. GE as a locomotive company may not have got off the ground until much later, if at all. Which may have given Alco the breathing room it needed to pull itself back. Although not incredibly likely given the company's track record. no pun intended.

Please keep making videos. I know you do a lot about locomotives, but do you think you’d explore into company histories?

The Illinois Central Railroad bought six C636's in the late 60's and by the early 80's they were all gone

When I was a kid, I was infatuated with Tyxo's C630 (Alcohol "Super" 630. Of course these are effectively toy trains, and don't hold a candle to even the old Athearn blue box models.

Author, hi bro! Can you tell me about electric locomotives for AmtraK trains? It is very interesting about the AEM 7 electric locomotive. Thank you for your work!

People like to badmouth alco locomotives of any size and arrow but many of them put in many years of service in main line and Branch lines and now museum lines. The railroad economy with drinking and without a big company to fax them alco went out of business . Forgive the grammatical errors of this stupid phone

Does anyone know the BSFC on the 251 Alco? I always hear it is more efficient than a 567 but do we have figures?
@Dr_ReasonАй бұрын
I found it. .38 for EMD, .33 for Alco. About 17% less fuel.
