I just got one to it’s really cool, I wanted one last year but it sold out. I live in north east 🇺🇸. But lid and bottom have a felt lining for soft closing. Wouldn’t that melt off with all the heat the bbq will give off, today is a holiday in USA, Memorial Day weekend. So we just built it and are going to use it. We have a normal size kamado but it got the grates got to rusted because my dad didn’t put the cover on. It’s still useable. But we are going to use this new mini kamado from LIDLs. But wouldn’t the felt he toxic if burnt. Not hating on the grill at all. Just inquiring about the felt on the lid of the mini kamado.

Hi, Its holiday weekend in the UK too! Many people are cooking outdoors on their BBQs and kamados this weekend. The felt is a high temp gasket and perfectly safe to use with your kamado. Glad it helped! I measured my bowl its 14cm at the top, 11cm at the bottom, but can be max 12.5cm at the bottom. Max depth of 5cm 👍

Yes, I made the deflector from 3mm stainless steel and an angle grinder. You can buy them online too. Similar to this amzn.to/3Rx9GTa

Thank for the video. Just bought a Mini Kamado the other day and haven't tested it yet. How long does the charcoal last for? any specific temperatures you like to use for grilling/smoking?

It last for a long time! It’s so efficient, my wife just got me one for Father’s Day and I was so surprise at how long the charcoal lasts and how quickly it cooks. Didn’t have to add charcoal the 3 times I used it, I filled it up to about 3-4 inches from reaching the grill.

A couple of handfuls will last about 4 hrs. Once you've finished cooking, shut the vents and you can reuse it next time 👍🔥

Yes, often sold in Aldi and Lidl. Smaller than a Kamado Joe Jnr, so depends on how many you are cooking for. These are great for 1-2 people. Heat up quick and retain heat for hours. 👍

Can I ask where you got the metal plate from that sits under the grill? Also any benefit with leaving the lid of the BBQ open when lighting the coals rather than closing the lid? Cheers. Great vid btw

Thanks Tom. I made the deflector plate myself , cut out from stainless sheet and bent the legs. You can buy them online however. Go for 3mm to 5mm thick. I leave the lid open for airflow and shut when the flames have died down. 👍
