Profound quote at the end of the lecture. Prior to the quote, AH seems to be analyzing the dialectic between private human experience and human progression, which seems to be largely unobservable from a single person's experience over their lifetime. The quote seems to focus on another dialectic/tension that echoes the feeling that Heidegger would call a sense of "throwness" that is endemic to the human experience.

Interestingly the phrase "sex is a holiday from the I" (quoted from memory) has become the title of the German film "Ferien vom Ich". Well, just looked it up the film came out in 1952. Probably pure coincidence. Huxley's idea is striking though.
