9 years later (today 2022) Jacobo & Maria are worldwide famous with 200 employees and art exhibitions around the world, NY, Barcelona, Japan etc. Coco movie (disney) was inspired by them.

Thank you for your comment! It has been a true delight to see Jacobo & Maria's star continue to rise - some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet! I enjoyed meeting Ricardo again a few years later - almost unrecognizable with long hair and a now a father, a confident man and provider for his family. Jacobo & Maria were just starting to get noticed when I met and interviewed them for this short documentary in 2005. I just watched Coco again yesterday on a plane ride back from the Peruvian Amazon, and once again, it brought tears to my eyes. I loved how they gave a starring role to Alebrijes when educating the wold about the Day of the Dead tradition, helping us to all realize that death of our body is not the end...not by a long shot!
