Thank you for this discussion. Definitely needed and felt. I am a painter that loves a bunch of different mediums and was always worried about the financial outcome. Thank you for helping me remember it’s all about the joy and healing it brings. That was how I uncovered my gifts in the first place. Forever flowers for your existence, wisdom, and forever growing perspective 💐.

You’re definitely right on the money! People don’t show up until the numbers add up to their idea of success… Unfortunately you can’t make any REAL money from these platforms because they continually change the criteria for monetization and you’ve gotta sell some sort of product or service that goes directly in your pocket. Maybe you could sell courses on how to create songs?

When I tell you I have had to explain this to many of my friends. It costs so much in time, money and energy to create and put music out but as an independent artist you get little support and pennies back in return. What keeps me going is my faith, the love of music and willpower. It's not paying my bills but I cannot stop creating because its a gift. Unfortunately I am easy to be taken advantage of because of this. Spotify is unfair to smaller artists but I guess these platforms were not designed for independent unsigned artists and its shows.

Literally, I am so triggered! Art, Music and practically all levels of creativity... heal, feed the soul, keep our frequencies high and spread love, peace, faith, connectivity, joy... they create links between people..its culture forming, history creating, mindset regenerating, moments in time forever captured by that one time with that friend, lover, parent, pet, environment.. limitless moments of time. Time is our most precious commodity. Artists must be recompensed appropriately as much if not more than what is deemed career approved by society.. Those streams should be shut down ...004cent is shocking. $10 is shocking. The years of huge artist competition to get accepted by universities, the tuition, stress, practice hours.. I practiced 6hrs per day at one time.. Prince knew what was coming.. Kudos to you Alicia for walking your authenticity..doing the practice..living your passion.. you inspire.. by being real. ❤

This was a great video and very helpful. Your recent videos about your process behind the scenes of being an artist is so generous and I am incredibly grateful.

Great video, great conversation as always. I have a question for you as an artist. I was watching a documentary about a photographer by the name of Vivien Maier. ( doc is called "Finding Vivien Maier") An up and coming artist bought a storage full of her art at auction and it was phenomenal, I mean she was truly gifted. Many people questioned why she never showed her art and how that was really a shame that she kept it from the world. My question to you is: Should art be shared for eveyone to enjoy or can you just make art as a form of self healing? Do you think it's okay for someone to create art solely for themselves?

Hugs, Alecia! Streaming is a shady business. I create here, ads are placed, yet I am paid nothing. I'm not ready for monetization but my viewers are forced to see ads that interrupt their concentration and enjoyment. Ironically, I get no cut from the money my vids make.... Shady.

Love your album Rage! I added a few more bucks to the purchase. Does it go to the artist or band camp?❤
