When I was 12 years old, in 1958 my family rented a beach cottage at Trancas Beach. The house we rented was next door to Lloyd Bridges' cottage. We'd watch him and his children surfing and swimming in those Pacific waves. I was a Sea Hunt fan, but never got up the gumption to say hello. Incidentally, next door to us on the other side lived Joel McCrea and his wife. Life was simpler then: a Midwestern family could rent a modest house at Malibu for the summer and rub elbows with Hollywood stars of the day.

Lloyd was a very generous man and would gladly have talked to anyone about Sea Hunt or the weather. Very much missed. A

Alec, I totally get your excitement about finding authenticating documentation for something that is being collected. It just makes the collection that much more complete. To me, the "back-up" information or article or photo or whatever, is just as valuable and interesting as what it is authenticating. You never know when something you were totally unaware of existed, will pop up to add yet another chapter to the story. Love it.

Right. You have the same shirt Mike but, do you wear it in public in Montana?? I bet not. I keep mine for dive trips south - until Kevin talked me into putting it on. Not really Montana-like apparel! Take care. Alec

just wonder Alec if Sea Hunt got you into diving, When I was Young I saw a film called Six Mile Reef staring Robert Wagner and Anthony Steel (not sure ) sponge diving, influenced me to become a diver which I did for many many years and got deeply involved in professional and sports diving.. ................. p.s. love your channel.....
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter8 жыл бұрын
I think you mean "Beneath the 12 Mile Reef" from 1953. This was a great movie, pre-Sea Hunt, that showed the big sponge diving industry on the west coast of Florida. It was based in Tarpon Springs Florida just north of Tampa. They have a museum there dedicated to the sponge divers. Robert Wagner played on Sea Hunt too. The movie also starred Richard Boone of Have Gun, Will Travel and Peter Graves of Mission Impossible although most of the actors were given Greek names because all the sponge divers in Florida were Greek. Thanks for watching, Alec

Sitting in a room playing X-Box loses much of the social interaction of board games. Luckily, our daughters, son-in-laws and grand kids still enjoy playing board games like Monopoly, Clue, Ticket to Ride, or Settlers of Catan. Unfortunately, I have no scuba related board games. Those you mentioned may be the only ones ever created. Best regards, Tom.

Clue! Wow! I loved Clue. Our whole family played Clue for hours sometimes when I was still home - pre '68. I have about 20 scuba-related board games. You can often find one on eBay. Take care Tom. Alec

I'd love to play the sea hunt game, maybe if I make a trip from the UK?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter8 жыл бұрын
It's good for a laugh for sure Ivan. I have an extra Sea Hunt game that I can sell you. A lot cheaper than coming to Canada. I have a lot of Sea Hunt books and 1 Sea Hunt comic from the UK. I have to think there's more stuff. Have you looked around or searched UK auctions sites for Sea Hunt stuff? I'd be interested in swapping or buying anything you find. Alec

Hi Alec, my name is James, and wanted to divulge some information about Wally Wood. He was a comics artists who did a lot of record and other item covers. Unfortunately back in 1981, he took his own life. There is a website about Wally (Wallace) for your interest. I love to watch Sea Hunt, but noticed you had a comment about Wally (Wallace) Wood. The website for his estate is www.wallacewoodestate.com. Love your Sea Hunt Remembered videos and hope you do more. James.

There are lots of board games these days, and they are much more interesting than the ones in the past (especially the ones that seem to be considered classics, which for the most part are just boring)
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
Spoken like a true millennial Len! Having not lived in the 50's-60's, I suggest you can't pass an honest, informed decision. Even if you claim to have played some of the 'classics' as you call them, that does NOT qualify you to pass such a judgement because you have also played more modern board games. You are therefore prejudiced. When a board game came out in the 60's, it was sensational. We had no internet, few TVs, no iPods and so much more to compare to the games. They were, in a word, fantastic. When is the last time you heard someone call a board game fantastic? You consider Monopoly boring? If so, you simply haven't played it to the end with some experienced players. First played in 1935, it is still one of the most popular games in the world. But then again, it does required a certain level of intellect to truly appreciate and enjoy. Plus, it requires that all cell phones, iPads and TVs in the vicinity be turned off. Perhaps that's why millennials don't play it.

I find most of the board games that have been around a long time rely mostly or entirely on luck. Roll dice (or spinner), move, repeat. Even monopoly doesn't work well because it is so unbalanced. A lot of the new board games are much more interesting since you actually get to have an influence on what happens other than just luck. Some games I can think of that have good strategy and are not just a matter of luck, would be things like scotland yard (that's early 80s), settlers of catan (mid 90s), carcasonne (2000), and many others. Of course there are strategy board games that are not just luck going back a long time like chess (although boy is that hard to get good at), checkers, mancala, and others like that. Risk is pretty good too, given only some parts are dice based luck, and that's from the last 50s, and probably is considered a classic. There are just too many games like chutes and ladders, where being involved in playing the game makes no difference. I could have my cat roll the dice and the game would progress just the same. The player has no influence on the outcome of the game at all. There are no choices to make.

And really my main point is that board games are doing very well and are quite popular these days. Not everyone is busy playing on their electronic gadgets all the time.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
There's the proof! Your measure of a game is how much luck is involved. Someone from the 50's - 60's measures the game by how much fun it is (was). SORRY was one such game and it was pretty much all luck but my family, Dad, Mom, brothers and sisters had a wonderful, laugh-filled time playing it after Sunday evening dinner. And there was no lack of intellect there - 1 nurse, 2 MEds, 1 BSC, 1 Assistant Director of Education and all successful business people. Those were the good days, pre-trump, when winning was something you celebrated with the guy who won. The game was the reason not the goal.

Well now, that's good to hear. Take care Len. Alec
