Hey Alec, I'm a US Navy Diver and we use dive Computers all the time. See appendix 2B in the latest revision of the dive manual, we dive them for all sorts of rigs and gas mixtures, the amount of extra bottom time we get with them is really remarkable. Great technology making us so much more efficient (Even if the ones we use are from the 80's)

I appreciate that very much Elaine. I do this for education and entertainment (sometimes anyway). No asking for subs, likes, money or selling anything and NO ads. Many folks ask me to monetize but not unless I really need the hassle and aggravation as I'm finding KZbin to be like regular TV, ads at the start, middle and end of every video is frustrating to me. Thank you for watching and glad your picking up tips to share with your customers.

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter Oh and a few months of using the VTX and I can confirm after about 30 dives with it, YOU CANNOT SEE THE DISPLAY underwater in tropical waters by day. In caves, it's amazing. But on the surface or underwater in normal tropical diving conditions it is useless, even on 100%. Don't waste your money.Battery life is pitiful, I was getting about 6 dives per battery as I was having to keep it at 100% all the time.

Thank you for your excellent presentation. I just thought I'd mention that I have had problems with a Suunto Gecko with a failed water pressure sensor so the depth was significantly incorrect (up to 10 meters/30 feet) and a Mares Air Integrated Computer with a failed air pressure sensor. I now dive with an air integrated SPG/Computer (Atomic - which has been repaired once already) and a wrist mount wireless computer (Shearwater Perdix - love these). I would never dive with one computer again particularly if it is also your SPG. The rule with any computer is that it will fail, not if but when. There is a designed redundancy in most consumer electronics including dive computers which is perhaps why most only offer a 12 month warranty. Curiously my very old Suunto companion never failed but became obsolete due to an inability to update software.

Another thing about OLEDs is they are susceptible to burn in where LCDs are not. OLEDs also have a far more limted lifetime and they slowly fade over that lifetime. My last insulin pump had a similar OLED screen to that dive computer. I had to upgrade early, not because of the pump malfunctioning, but because the screen had decayed to the point of being unreadable even in dim indoor lighting.

@tomhyde92935 жыл бұрын
It helps if your electronic compass has a declination setting. Maps are aligned to true north, but compasses point to magnetic north. It's 3 degrees different where I live in Texas, but 20 degrees in the northwest corner of North America. Without the declination setting, you have to remember to add or subtract the difference every time you take a heading.

Hi Alec. The biggest problem I have seen with divers using a compass underwater is that they do not maintain a constant rate of travel. Accelerating and decelerating will cause the compass needle to fluctuate. Divers are constantly starting and stopping due to the fluctuation and don't realize that they are causing it. In Aviation, we have a pneumonic for this. ANDS, accelerate north decelerate south. This fluctuation is most pronounced when traveling east or west and decreases to zero when traveling north or south.
@concretefields6 жыл бұрын
Great video, as always. My biggest gripe with compasses integrated into dive computers, especially LCD ones is that they often don't allow you to see your NDL, depth, etc while also looking at the compass. You have to switch back and forth, potentially causing you to lose your bearing, or to exceed your NDL. As an instructor, I usually warn my students about this when they're thinking about getting their own computer. Though, it looks like that Oceanic model you showed might show more info. Looks like I've got some more research to do.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Integrated compasses into dive computers can be a good thing but if doing a long navigation, as you say, switching between computer and navigation affects accuracy and comfort. Consider a wrist mount or add one to a console, no batteries and ready all the time. Thanks for watching. Alec

Brother Diver-Jon, I very recently purchased a MARES-Ouad; I haven't dove it yet, but just going through the sequence(s) of function, I REALLY like it. I've had an Oceanic PRO since about 1999; it's a good Comp to, BUT! In comparison, I SURE like those nice & BIG numbers+letters that the QUAD displays. And some research I've done has indicated that many tek-divers like it as well. Bigger #s & letters = easier to read = MORE safe diving.

Easiest computer I have used is a sheerwater petrel 2 , all their computers are great , change the AA battery yourself with a coin without voiding the warranty , will take any batteries, easy to read in full sun or deep in a cave thanks to auto brightness. My friend I dive with baught a oceanic VTX ( same as the one in the video) and to this day wishes she got a sheerwater as well. Similar price , yet the sheerwater can do so much more and no remembering to to a hard press or a soft one or a long one or a double press you tap the buttons and even have little prompts on screen.

Ralphgtx280 If Shearwater would do air integration, I would buy one in a heartbeat. I understand why they don't, but their sales would skyrocket if they did. Their computers are absolutely awesome.
@Ralphgtx2808 жыл бұрын
I have 3 computers, one is air integrated and I hate the air integration, Transmitters fail , cross talk and tend to be out of range at the least convenient moments. Transmitters get broken off easily and are snag points for line so not suitable for diving in an overhead environment.
@anmazomawa8 жыл бұрын
those computers are for technical divers that don't need air integration (you plan your gas consumption based on dive plan - not just jump into water to be told when to surface for being short of gas) but value OLED display, multi gas capability with full control of decompression etc Still would recommend Perdix for recreational diving - even for the clarity of displayed information and size of font used.
@teslafreak8 жыл бұрын
Ralphgtx280 Yeah, I know. I get the negative points, but the option would be cool. Radio chips are so small and low power now that they could probably put on in pretty easy, and no one would have to use it. All that considered, I don't have plans to be anything more than recreational, and I'm still strongly considering a Perdix. You almost can't find complaints about them.
@Ralphgtx2808 жыл бұрын
Yeah they could add compatibility with a firmware update though I dont think they will. It already has a bluetooth system for syncing and updating. They do regular enhancements and their customer service is great , I've used my petrel 2 for unconventional things like checking and monitoring cabin pressure on a plane and they were quite helpful when I had it stuck in dive mode being on the ground ( turns out just needed the battery out for a day to clear it) but they changed the software because of my issue so it wont do that anymore. Great company to deal with

Hi Alec, you say in your videos that computers make diving safer but don't mention the different algorithms that computers use. What are your thoughts there? What about safety? Setting gradient factors for example? Also what about people who come out and end up getting DCI but say "well my computer was ok!" - computers don't get bent, people do. In terms of people actually using computers, as a tool, what do you think people should consider when purchasing?

I've actually had two different computers fail at depth on me on two different occasions. I personally am a fan of having a full featured back up. However, since I've gone to Shearwaters I haven't had a problem since.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Shearwater, Made in Canada, is a good product. Computers are not perfect any more than cell phones or GPS. But they offer so much more safety to divers that they are worth the occasional breakdown. Analog gauges are much more subject to breakdown and are invariably inaccurate. We just don't notice their inaccuracies. I've had computers let me down too but generally they are very rugged and reliable. I have customers still using their old Gekko after 10 years or more of hard diving. Many divers think that a computer failure is the end of the world but it's really just another gear snafu. So make a slow ascent to the surface and start over! You seem to have had your share of bad luck with computers. Perhaps now you will have nothing but good luck. Take care. Alec

Alec, Thank you so much for your tips. Do you leave your transmitter attached to your regulator when you travel? Could you do a show on traveling (flying), in general? Thanks again.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
Good idea. Lots of divers quite quite paranoid about their gear when traveling by air when there's no need to. The computer transmitter will NOT be damaged in any way. It's more likely to be damaged by taking it off and on. Just protect it from sharp bangs. Alec

Hey Alec I'm enjoying watching all your tips. I'm nearly catching up on all your videos! Question, on the subject of computers, I bought my Suunto D4i Novo a year ago, and started diving and it was great. I loved the feature that it automatically uploads my dives into Movescount (the social media type of website, where, effectively, it keeps a log of all my dives, logged on my computer with all the details that the computer captured, and I write on top all additional information I'd like to add. I enjoyed that a lot until the point where I went on a deep dive where on the way up we used a different mix of gas (much higher oxygene %) to speed up decompression time. I discovered that I couldn't do that on my dive computer. we relied on my instructor's dive computer to work out when to get out of water. (we left my computer under water alone so it doesn't go crazy :) ) After that episode, I bought a Shearwater computer as advised by my instructor. Now I can't figure out a way to upload my logged dives from Shearwater to Movescount (which is owned by Suunto). 2 questions: 1- Do you know if there is a way to upload Shearwater logged dives to Movescount (if that's possible) 2- if 1- is not possible, is there another online dive log website where I can automatically upload dives information/profile from both Suunto and Shearwater and then add any additional details I'd like to add? This is social media diver type of question - nothing vintage in here :) .. I was wondering if you'd come across anything like that. I know that those dives are starting to flirt with the tec diving outside the boundaries of recreational.. but now I'll start doing the extended range training. I could have stuck to Suunto and go up to Eon or other, but all my diving instructors (I had quite a few) suggested Shearwater as a better alternative!
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter5 жыл бұрын
The Shearwater products have a good name and lots of fans. They are still a small partner in the scuba industry and you may find their systems don't work well with the more mainstream ones. I can't say definitely if the Shearwater computer details will download to any other program. I somehow doubt it but you need to either confirm that with them or find an experienced user. And I also can't help you with Movescount or another similar program,. It isn't that I'm not literate with these systems. I just tend to stay with larger brand names and ensure that all my products are compatible with them. Good luck. Alec

@michaelchristenbury5524 жыл бұрын
Don’t do it, the computer needs to be recalibrated after the battery change and the equipment to do that no longer exists! I believe Scubapro will give you 20% off a new computer with a trade in or Oceanic right now will also give you the same deal! I really miss my Uwatec AirZ O2, it has a dead battery and requires the same equipment to change the battery. It is still the best computer that I have ever used!

Want your comments of on tank pressure indicators. Do the computers ( what brand ) have user settable air pressure warning indicators . How do they work . Sound ? Flashing LED bright light ? Both ? like on the fire department computer. Had a diver using analog gear die for not keeping tabs on his air pressure. Hope you answer. Thanks.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Most AI (air integrated) dive computers will allow pre-set pressure alarms, at the very least a minimum pressure alarm. You can set that for any pressure - 500 psi, 1000 psi or more. The alarm is usually indicated by flashing of the air pressure number on the display. The better ones will also have an audible signal - beeping. One problem with dive computers is that divers get lazy and stop monitoring their pressure and their dive time too as they were taught. The old saying that a pressure gauge is only useful if you look at it still applies. If you miss the alarm, whether the flashing number which is easy to miss if you don't look at the gauge regularly or the audible alarm which is also possible to miss if diving in a surf or if breathing hard, you're still going to run out of air. There is no solution to this problem - you MUST watch your gauge, SPG or Dive Computer. I suspect that a diver who doesn't watch his air supply is too stupid to be a diver. He simply doesn't grasp the importance of air underwater. Even if he had a buddy tap his shoulder when he is low on air, he'd find some other way to screw up. Just saying. Take care. Alec

I'd like to mention that not all LCDs are like that, in the fact that they do not contain a full compass. Mine does. It also comes with the transmitter, and it seems like you said only the LED one has a transmitter. I have two quick questions, first, at the price point of the BUD, why would you not just buy another full computer, take the strap off and put a clip on it? I know there are at least 3 full feature computers at the 200$ price point, and they will log several dives as well as function as a full computer. My second question is on your experience with Hollis gear. I am considering buying a Hollis regulator, and I have heard many people hate hollis, though everybody I talk to says that the regulator is great. Do you have any opinions you'd care to share? Thanks for reading, and keep up the amazing videos, I really appreciate them.

Hi Alec. Could you do an episode on what is GAUGE MODE vs SCUBA MODE in Dive Computers.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
That's possible of course. It might be boring! Personally I've no idea why Gauge Mode is even available. Essentially it is the same as Dive Mode (or Normal Mode on some computers) and shows your depth and time. It does NOT show decompression information, that is, accumulated nitrogen. So, using Gauge Mode will show you how deep you've been and how long you were down but it gives you no guidance regarding decompression. Isn't that what dive computers are for???? It would be like using a depth gauge and a watch to record your dive but then not bothering to use tables to figure out if you're OK! Oddly, although it doesn't give you decompression information, most dive computers in Gauge Mode will not let you change the mode until you've reached No Fly time limit. So it seems that the computers actually calculate the decom information internally just as though you were in Dive Mode but simply fail to show it to you. Alec

Hi, Alec. What about the difference between hose mount or wrist mount computers. I mean such points as air level control (hose vs. wireless), reliability of an air level count. On your opinion, is there some difference between them (including price)? What is you're opinion about Suunto Cobra console system. Is it handy? Thanks. Great channel.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
I used a Cobra for quite a while and sold many of them. It's a pretty good and solid, reliable computer. I wasn't comfortable with the hoseless units for a long time. The early ones were not reliable and would often stop transmitting. I also didn't see a big advantage to not having an SPG hose - still don't. But now I'm using an Oceanic OCi Air Integrated Wrist Computer and really like it. One small benefit is that I can take it and use it when traveling even if I don't have my own regulator, without the air integration of course. But a rental reg has an SPG and I still have my own computer on my wrist. It's also a bit more convenient to use. Rather than reach for and bring the regular hose mounted computer up to read, I simply look at my wrist. Not a big deal but what the heck! If it's a bit easier and quicker I may be looking at it more often. And the 1-button push, built-in compass is OK too. I've heard of some lost pairing with all the hoseless computers including the OCi but apparently the lost connection is momentary. I'm not sure. I've never seen it happen. Maybe I'm not looking at the right time. Obviously it's not an issue. So, whatever you think you'd like is the answer. Both (regular AI computer or hoseless) work well. Take care. Alec
@alaind8316 жыл бұрын
guess you don't hunt lobsters... gotta shove your hand is very tight spot, so watch is out of question. Have a wireless AI computer collecting dust for that reason I haven't tried yet as I don't want to switch computer depending on dive (or spend $ on an adapter I suppose). Last dive with friend who has one broke the transmitter somehow off the kayak (hear of issue people using that as a handle to lift tank so use a very short HP hose instead, but wasn't this case). there goes $300-400 ! good think he had redundant computer for day would have been over. I like the idea of one fewer hose though and not reaching for computer. Always trade offs.

Hi Alec, greetings from Norway again. This question is two parted, one part informative and one part educational. Well you might not use my tip or agree with my feedback but that is ok. Anyway part 1: When I bought my first computer I went for the Suunto Vyper, basically due to the cost and it was a very good computer. Did not have the best buttons for drysuit diving, it is an mportant tip when choosing a dive computer as thick gloves...you know! So I decided to invest in the Oceanic Oci, it looks good and I could use it as a watch and in both cold and dry water. However I turns out it has become the most unreliable dive computer ever, been dead once, been updated twice and is currently somewhere in the United Kingdom for a service/warrenty repair, heck even the cable that attach to the watch broke (pin fall out). So now I am grounded from diving, and I cannot look forward to the watch returns either, why you ask? Well I do not feel I can trust it, should I or should I sell it.. Anyway just wanted to say that dive computers are not all that reliable, even if the cost tons of money. Excellent videos! Are transmitters (for tank pressure) compatible across brands? It seems like Oceanic and Aeris are compatible (from reading description on Amazon).
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question - one I've not been asked before nor thought of. The example you chose, Oceanic vs Aeris, is also interesting and my answer is yes. They are actually identical units. However, other brands that are not related to each other may be made by Pelagic. They may look identical and they may even be compatible as well. I cannot say for sure because there may be a small difference in the frequencies of the transmission between brands. Only with the technical details could we know for sure. I doubt even the distributors would know the answer to that and I don't know if Pelagic would divulge that information either. Alec
@markyoung62847 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response. If you have access to different brands of computers/transmitters, testing compatibility across brands may make for an interesting video. Suunto advertises that it's transmitter is compatible with all Suunto computers with a receiver. I'm in West Palm Beach, Florida, we have a Category 5 Hurricane coming, so I may not be online for a little while to see any additional responses.

Yep. You're right I recall that now from our sales of Suunto computers. Good luck with the storm. Alec
It's not technically scuba related but what's your thoughts on the full face snorkeling masks? I picked up a cheap one to use on our next cruise. They look neat but I heard you can't easily free dive with them since they really squeeze the face. I think my sister will like it since it should in theory make the fit easier and for those that have trouble breathing on a snorkel mouth piece. Is it just me or do they make you look like a teletubbie?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter8 жыл бұрын
Yep you're right. They look weird. We've avoided selling them in the store simply because they're not really a scuba item plus you can get them on the internet. However, I just bought 2 of them for a couple of friends who are going south with us and I want them to try snorkeling. They are older folks and I thought the mask would make them more comfortable. I'll soon find out. Alec

If you experience face squeeze can you not just add air to the mask with your nose as you would with a scuba mask?

Yep. That's exactly what you do. For most diver the act of equalizing the ears through the nose also solves any mask squeeze issue. Alec

+OLED technology while highly visible has problems with longevity. They have a very finite life and will go dim. They are also prone to lines across the display and other problems due to moisture entering the OLED. I have encountered this in my ham radios and problems with OLED display. Still love every tech tips and eagerly await the next one.
@Dive_Me_Crazy8 жыл бұрын
Jim Schnurr LED screens still last a long while. Dive computer screens are very high quality and well protected from water and shock. By the time the screen goes dim or you develop dead pixels you will have upgraded the computer or just grown tired of diving.... I'm talking years. But like you said, all technology eventually dies and needs replacing. I think it is also true that OLED or regular LED have still to prove their longevity in extreme environments.
@jimschnurr35128 жыл бұрын
Not wanting to get technical but OLED's and LED's are two very different technologies for displays. LED screens do last much longer but the OLED screens I am referring to have a very short life. They can dim and develop lines in as little as two years. OLED's are new and slowly gaining control of the manufacturing consistency. I love my dive computer but will stay with the current model I have. Keep up the great videos especially the old gear. (P.S> I went back and watched every Sea Hunt after you got me going) Jim

@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
The Zoop (previously the Gekko) is a pretty good standard dive computer. Thousands of divers depend on it. The biggest benefit of the Zoop is the ridiculous large numbers on its outsized display. I sold lots of them (Gekkos). Cheap too. I could never figure out how a marketing person convinced Suunto to call it the ZOOP. Gekko was a good name. What's wrong with Gekko II or something less cartoon-like than Zoop? The guy must still be laughing. Anyway, good computer. Alec

Hi Alec, Got a question. You have been talking how good and reliable computers from 5 yrs ago, how about computers like my Suunto D9 watch which i got 2007 and my Galileo Sol which i got 2010. How reliable are these old ones? I haven't dive for a long time like five years and thinking about diving again. Are these computers still good or need to to buy new ones?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Both of the computers you have were the leading edge when you got them. They are still excellent. I'd have no concern at all about going diving with either. You ought to check the batteries after such a long dormant period. Take care. Alec

Hey Alec, What are your thoughts on the Shearwater Perdix AI range? Thanks
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
Shearwater computers have a very loyal fan base. I've not personally used them or sold them so cannot answer your question fairly. I'm not sure what Shearwater computers offer that you cannot get from larger brands names which generally means better worldwide service. So long as you and your dive buddies, no matter where you will be diving, are familiar with their displays and functions, I'm sure they would be fine. Alec
@clarkeysam6 жыл бұрын
Although Shearwater computers can do rec dives no problem, they are aimed at technical dives. Most technical divers I've met are generally split into two, 1 group who swear by the Shearwaters as the best technical dive computer out there, or the other, smaller group, who say you only need a basic computer set to gauge mode, so save your money. As for service, the seller of Shearwaters in the UK has a top reputation, but there certainly are fewer service centres than what major bands have. Personally I wouldn't let that put me off. Ultimately, like all dive equipment, it depends on the dives you do and the dive you want to do in future.

One day somebody will invent a dive computer that transmits data to a device mounted on a mask fitted with Google glass so I have a continuous heads up display. Oh, and then I'll have to wait a few years before I can afford it :-)
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
I believe they have prototypes of heads up displays in masks today doing just that. The mask is huge and heavy but will shrink down like cell phones did. Even with all the information we have in dive computers displayed in front of you continuously, I wonder if it will make divers actually safer? Maybe they should connect the dive computer to the BCD so when you get low on air, it slowly inflates to start you up. What do you think? Thanks for watching Neil. Alec
@neilwillis46946 жыл бұрын
Wow. Just found this -- www.blueoceandiving.co.uk/shop/dive-computers/oceanic-datamask/ And at £800 that isn't too bad although description doesn't say if it's nitrox compatible. Looks like I'll still need a wrist computer as well. As for connecting to BCD, if it could keep your buoyancy perfect, that will be quite something. I tend to struggle holding 5 metres at a safety stop if I don't have a fixed reference or something to hold on to.
@martinbachmann62836 жыл бұрын
Brother Alec, GREAT instructional video once again! About your comment regarding dive-comp to BCD auto-inflate? Don't think that would be good. Could you imagine being down at 140ft or so, then the "electronics" in the computer experience some sort of "cross-talk, channel, or whatever," and SUDDENLY the Computer tells the BCD to inflate, INFLATE, and KEEP ON INFLATING, and suddenly the poor diver becomes an SLBM-(SubLaunchedBalisticMISSILE) ??

Neil, take a look at the NERD 2 computer. It's a bit large, but as Alec points out, electronics get smaller as they develop. The NERD 3, if there ever is one, will probably be smaller and have more features than the current NERD 2, but cost less. See: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpytnYxvqaado9k

idea for tech tip: underwater navigation sonar! maybe too specific for boat/kayak vs beach, but I use (and got my buddy to get one too) a divetracker scout www.desertstar.com/page/divetracker-scout and totally changed the way I dive especially when hunting lobster (follow rock formation) instead of constantly watching my direction. Enjoy dive so much more and tend to use full tank knowing exactly where my kayak is on my way back. Great little gadget that makes it much safer too - no more long surface swims.

Got my old dive tables out to see if I could still calculate repetitive dives. Well, surprisingly I still could; would I want to? Hell no!
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
There's the problem. Not only does a diver need to use the tables regularly to retain the skill but even then they don't do nearly as much as a computer can do - faster, more accurately, ascending as well as descending, logging and on and on. Like it or not (and you should like it since it saves diver's lives), dive tables belong on the same shelf as slide rules, the abacus, dial phones, distributor caps, your good old Webster's dictionary and a long list of other essentials from the 50' - 70's.

Is the Elapsed dive time means the time I have left on this dive or it's the dive time I already had?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter5 жыл бұрын
Elapsed Time is the same as Dive Time or Bottom Time - the time that you have been underwater. It is nice to know but not essential. RDT or Remaining Dive Time is critical. That's how much longer you have before you must be at the surface. Alec

Alec, Thank you again for such a useful video. With the advances in AI dive computers do you also feel it is necessary to have a redundant pressure gauge? The way I see it is, that if my computer becomes "glitchey" then I surface and change to a traditional pressure gauge. Would like to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance Justin
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Even as recently as 5 years ago I'd not object if a diver wanted a back-up computer. But today they are as close to 100% reliable as they ever will be - much more reliable than your cell car or car. And you're right, computer, SPG, whatever, if it doesn't seem to be working properly, simply end the dive. Many divers have asked me "Suppose my new computer fails. What then?". As with any piece of equipment - end the dive!!! The AI computers are fantastic.They don't just tell you the remaining air pressure. They actually calculate the dive time remaining at your current rate of consumption. No analog gauge does that. Take care. Alec

It's not a bad point to make. I know many divers, mostly older, who will sit on top of a reef/wall for 65 to 90 minutes, surface and have the same surface interval as fellow deep divers. Just stay safe.

Hi Alec. i have the Mares quad/air dive computer. (havent used it yet. still to cold northern ont.) but it sates "The quad/Air can use up to 3 gas mixtures in 1 dive, Air and nitrox. Setting the computer to include 1 or more nitox mixes in addition to your main gas mix. now im am planing to take the nitox course this summer. so maybe ill understand more once i do. I know the use of nitrox is more bottom time and less Deco but, why where and when would you have an air tank 21% then 2 nitrox at diffrent mixes. . i mean 3 tanks on your back really???? or am i miss understanding something?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Commercial divers may very well use a variety of gas mixtures on a single dive. However, they are surface supplied. I'm not sure what the Quad/Air computer means but I suspect it means that you can easily choose from a variety of mixtures. A diver may make a dive using 36% and then a dive using 32% and then a dive using air. Having a computer that will change easily from one mix to another is handy. Alec
@JoeLLacelle6 жыл бұрын
Alec Peirce Scuba. yeah its the Mares "quad". just means its got 4 buttons i think. and its "air" integrated with a transmitter. i just liked it cuz its got a great big screen. but you can scroll through 3 diffrent gases... but im glad i got it. ive had a dive shop tell me i dont need all that so i repplied.
