The Saltator similis is a passerine bird of the Thraupidae family, found in Brazil and neighboring countries, with an overall olive coloration, grayish head, light ocher throat, olive-gray chest and abdomen, washed with ocher in the middle.
It is one of the most appreciated birds for its song and courage, today ex situ breeding has contributed to the reduction of illegal hunting and to the preservation of the species.
