How do I know ones close to eachother are actually polar without a chart of their electronegativity values? I was never given anything like that
@aidenmoro75832 ай бұрын
What if there is a double bond, like with the two lines? I got a problem like that on ALEKS. Does it not matter?
@RoxiHulet2 ай бұрын
Great question! It does not matter - you are only comparing the two atoms.

I try to avoid things that directly give me the answer, but watch your videos on a regular basis. In this case I got Cl and F. It says they are polar. lol They also gave me Br and Br, Cl and Cl. Those are obviously non-polar, but it outright says non-polar to Cl and F is wrong. :/ yeehaw. lol Edit, I just went with the electronegativity play on the periodic table and got it right. Just saying that that one in particular is considered polar, at least today.

Electronegativity is provided on the Aleks periodic table. Next time please don't say an answer is correct and go back on it because it is confusing for those who watch for the answers only.

The first answer is incorrect. The other option is correct and F is more electronegative.

@@corinne5396 no, the point is to listen to the explanation so you can do it yourself. The video is 4 minutes long.

@@challengersrt5397 She overexplained that concept. She waisted so much time saying how its "tricky", when its obviously not
