Orbital has been there with me through so much! through college all-nighters, helping me stay awake while working on my projects... jamming to 'the middle of nowhere' in my car with my 8, 6, and 2 year olds (because they must know good music!!! :0)... through later driving and crying in my car processing a tough divorce...and now, fast forward to where life is amazing because I choose it to be.. jamming with my now 17, 15, and 11 year olds who majorly love on ORBITAL with me. Your music and energy and rawness is beautiful and helps add to much to our world! Love and Success and Peace to you my brothers!!

@@illaghee7328 I know exactly what you mean, difficult choice - Aphex Twin is one of a kind and Orbital is more mainstream. i also love The Orb, then again Kraftwerk are good to with their visionary synth music

They got me into electronic music, best electronica brothers
@jameseisman6624 жыл бұрын
@@matthew6994 Comparing Aphex and Orbital is like apples and oranges. While they are both seminal figureheads within the 90s electronic music scene continuing on through today, Aphex Twin is glitchier and, in my opinion, a bit more "surface-level-cerebral" than Orbital. Mr James employs much more of a use of strange time signatures in order to confuse the listener, or to have their brain dancing, whereas Orbital has an ingenious way of layering their sound that on first listen may sound repetitive but its about the way 30 seconds of a song will go by and it will have changed without you realizing it. Aphex Twin wants the listener to notice big change. Orbital wants the changes to feel "seem"less.
@waryou3034 жыл бұрын
@@matthew6994 i wouldn't compare the two, both are genius in their own way. Orbital is something closer to "ordinary" while AT is more "punk" in that regard. Both are fantastic and unique.

Orbital are the definitive dance music creators of the 90s, i was at the night in the Arts College when they they first performed in Belfast, arranged by Holmer and McCready, such an unforgettable and magical night. David Holmes and Ian McCready brought peace to Belfast in the form of dance music, those days were awesome. Orbital Belfast was a song created and then named after that night because it was so good, so these guys helped bring people together in Belfast at a difficult time. I hope they know they are much loved in the dance music culture of Northern Ireland.

The limitations of the 90s tech are what made that music special
@flimnoir99465 жыл бұрын
Most of their original gear was from the 80s, like TR909 TB303 Akai S700 etc - but I get your point, they definitely made the most of limited gear much like the detroit techno guys did (Jeff Mills, Saunderson, Juan Atkins etc)
@midinerd5 жыл бұрын
They knew how all the different pieces of hardware worked and how to use them together. the 'limitations' of gear shaped more of the Elektro Funk 1-bar 16-step repetitive, but super catchy stuff.
@miketschudi26875 жыл бұрын
not quite true.. the limitation that the gear brought to to techno comes from not knowing how to use that gear but using it anyway.. electronic music was actually quite sophisticated back then when modern techno started… the limitation of the gear in terms of 1 bar 16 step measurements lies in what humans can actually process in their brains…thats why the engineers of the gear made them like this.. the only beat nearly every human can process is the 4/4. since the beginning of music charts there was only one song that had no 4/4 to hit the charts.. and that song even changes to the 4/4 after starting as a 5/4 (if i remember that right) wich is Golden brown from the Stranglers.. no other beat measurement ever made it into popular music.
@YdaAnn5 жыл бұрын
Mike Tschudi that explains why Golden Brown and that harpsichord always sang to me. I also can’t get off back-beats in general which is why I can’t stay away from breakbeat anything’s with a backbeat
