For some context: "siisti" and "siistiä" actually directly comes from the use of "neat" in English. And "viilee" and "viileetä" directly comes from "cool". But over time they've kinda gotten mixed up and can be used for the same meaning. In English, you might find that saying "neat" instead of "cool" will make you kinda sound like you're trying too hard. In Finnish, it's kinda the opposite, where "siistiä" sounds a bit more natural. Also important to remember that spoken Finnish can differ a lot depending on which dialect is spoken in the area. If you speak an Eastern Finnish dialect in Western Finland, for example, you will sound VERY non-local. In the most unlucky case, you might not even be understood. If you travel even 50-100km away from your local area, you will probably find at least some common words that are practically unheard of in your own area.

Yes, that's actually really accurate. Living on the western coast of Finland, went about 150km (?) east and felt hella stupid while trying to communicate with other people nor listening to others speak lol.

I want to learn Finnish just for fun (not wanting to emigrate or something :D), but I'm kinda discouraged by all the comments saying that Finnish is impossible language for foreigners, or that they always sound funny when they speak it, etc.

Sorry for writing in Finnish, but if you don´t understand Finnish enough to comprehend my posting, you would also not understand the concepts I am referring to.

It’s actually not an American freight, it’s a derivative of Monty Python, a British comedy group. Americans love “The Lumberjack Song,” where one of the lines is “I’m a lumberjack and I’m ok.” So, not exactly, but close enough. Most anyone in the UK or the United States will laugh at this line.
